Academic Excellence Awards recognize 454 schools that have sustained very high academic performance over at least three years. Some of these schools receive national recognitions, placing them among the nation's most outstanding.
In elementary and middle schools, at least 90% of the students met or exceeded state standards in both reading and mathematics for at least 3 consecutive years.
Williamsville Jr. High School is pleased to be a recipient of this award yet again. It's symbolic of our community, parents, staff, and students efforts to excel in the academic arena. Thank you to all who value and support our students' educational journey.
The Junior High Students stepped up to the plate and dontated $256 toward Breast Cancer Research this week. For $1, students could purchase a strip of duct tape, which was used to secure Mr. Shoufler to the gym wall. Students were very reluctant to bring him down after the assembly. In fact, he still may be in the gym as we speak!
Mrs. Damery, our JH Guidance and Academic Advisor, put together a great assembly that included fun competitions and student recognition. Recognized were October themed contest winners and participants for the Scary Story Contest, Magic Potion Contest, and Pumpkin Carving Contest.
7th Grader Molly Budinger was recognized for her story. To kick off Teen Read Week at the Junior High, Molly's story was read to the entire student body. Great job Molly!
Big thanks to Michelle Buscher for organizing the Breast Cancer Awareness activity for the JH. 264 of our 347 students in attendance wore Pink, in support of October--Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The 8th grade won the grade level competition with 82% of their class wearing Pink that day.
We are very fortunate to have a student body and community that think of and serve others in a supportive way!

Every year the Sangamon County Schoolmasters sponsor several extra-curricular events for the county schools. A program for these events is provided by McQuality Education Services. In this program, parents can place a "happy ad", showing their support for their child. Below you will find a link to the happy ad form for the Sangamon County Girl's Basketball Tournament, the Sangamon County Honor Band Concert, and the Sangamon County Literary Contest. In order for the form to print properly, you may need to shrink to 40% regular size. Please support your child by purchasing a happy ad for your child! Thank you.
The Williamsville Sports Booster club will be meeting Wednesday, Sept. 5th at 6pm at the Sherman Village Hall. The club is looking to form several committees for the upcoming year and need more parents involved in the activities. Please join us next Wednesday and help support our school!!!
One Way Traffic
Beginning Monday, Aug 20, the traffic pattern around the Junior High School will be one-way only. Vehicles will enter the junior high as normal off Walnut St, and will then flow in one direction around the back side of the junior high. The pattern will have vehicles exiting the junior high campus going north on Pine Street.
Road Signs are scheduled to be posted this week for drivers to see. Our community police will be posted to help with the new traffic pattern around the school during the first week.
Student Before School Drop-offs
8:00 am - 8:25 am
Students will be dropped off by parents at the back of the junior high's Fine Arts Entrance.

Student After School Pick-ups
3:12-3:30
Students will be picked up by parents at the back of the junior high's Fine Arts Entrance.
(This is the same as last year)
Student Drop-offs and Pick-ups (during classroom hours)
8:30-3:10
The dropping off or picking up of students due to appointments/illnesses will occur at the main entrance of the junior high school during the school day; as students/parents need to sign in or sign out before attending or leaving the building.

Bus Drop-offs and Pick-ups
School busses will drop off and pick up students in the bus loop at the front of the school.
(Athletic busses will still pick up teams at the Athletic Entrance of the gymnsasium)
Students, Parents, and Community members are invited to attend Meet the Teacher Night at WJHS on Thursday, August 30, 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm.

* 90% of students met or exceeded state standards in both reading and mathematics for the three most recent school years.
