Response to Intervention (RtI) is an ongoing initiative by our school district to identify students who are in need of additional academic support. The article briefly describes the ongoing STAR screening process.
The article that is attached identifies the study club dates and opportunities available to all WHS students.
This school year, our district is implementing a new assessment in each of our schools. Every student in our district will be completing a reading and mathematics assessment referred to as the STAR Assessment. Williamsville High School will administer these computerized tests during a student's English and math class during the days of October 3rd -5th and 11th - 13th. Students will need their User Name or student ID and WHS will assign a new password on the day of the assessment. The assessment will be given three times throughout the school year and it is designed to provide data that identifies a baseline of your child's individual ability level. We encourage all of our students to take this assessment seriously and do their best. Future WHS testing dates will be in January 2012 and April 2012.
Williiamsville High School will hold parent/teacher conferences on Thursday, October 6, 2011 and Friday, October 7, 2011. Scheduled appointments can be made by contacting the high school office at 566-3361. On October 6th conferences will be held from 5:00pm-8:00pm and on October 7th from 8:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm. WHS encourages and invites all parents/guardians to visit their children's academic teachers during this two day conference period. This year our conferences are held one month earlier to help monitor student progress prior to the end of our 1st quarter, October 21, 2011 and our 1st semester which ends December 21, 2011.
If these scheduled conference dates are not convenient to attend, WHS welcomes parents to contact an individual teacher through e-mail. a phone call or a scheduled appointment to better understand their child's academic progress. WHS hopes to see you at our parent teacher conferences!
