ANNOUNCING SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Congratulations to our Summer Camp Scholarship winners.  Brandi Donnelly, Samantha Moreland, and Mackenzie McCall will receive $100.00 each to apply towards their summer camps.  These scholarships are made possible by the commemorative paver purchases on display at the front of our building.

SIXTH GRADE FLYING EAGLES SURVIVE FIRST YEAR
Sixth grade students have almost made it through their first year at WJHS.  They will celebrate some of their achievements on Thursday, May 29.  Students will present a check to the Animal Protective League from their E Pluribus Unum Quilt Project,
following which they will have the Quilt raffle drawing to see who will take home this year's beautiful quilt.  They have already raised more than $200 dollars from the raffle. In addition, they will receive some end of the year recognitions, including the Soaring EAGLES awards, the highest honor which can be earned by sixth grade students.  To become a Soaring EAGLE, students
had to earn no more than one Behavior Warning during the entire school year, at least one academic award each quarter, and perform at least two hours of community service during the school year.  The Talon Challenge, a competition between Wrap-Up classes based on assignment completion and quizzes given every two weeks, and Accelerated Reader points, is in a dead heat between Thornton's Thunderbolts and Mahr's Mustangs.    It may come down to a Jeopardy-style play-off between the two Wrap-Up classes to determine the final Talon Challenge champs for the year.
It has been a year of changes, challenges, and achievement for our newest members of the WJHS student body.  Most of them seem to have enjoyed the experience.

6TH GRADE ILLINOIS CONSTITUTION TEST

Congratulations to Nick Newton, who scored a perfect grade on the Illinois Constitution Test this year.  To earn a perfect score,
students had to get the answer to every question correct, get all bonus questions correct, and have no misspelled words on the test.  Nick will be honored for his achievement by getting to serve as a page in the Illinois House of Representatives on May
27 as a guest of Representative Rich Brauer.  More than half of this year's class earned an A or B on the test.

7TH GRADE PERFECT PIRATES

Congratulations to our 4th quarter Perfect Pirates.  These 7th grade students had no late assignments and no behavior warnings the entire quarter.  They also each completed one hour of community service.  Cassy Abeln, Olivia Bohringer, Curtis Clark, Anneliese Darow, Harrison Galusha, Taylor Hardy, Kyle Jones, Charlotte Lipp, Jessica Mast, Mackenzie McCall, Mary McGrath, Courtney Paden, Abbi Penk, Ben Schutzbach, Sarah Stover, and Skylar Woods.  They will be rewarded with a special party and prize on Tuesday, May 27th, during 8th hour.
