SCHOOL SAFETY A TOP PRIORITY
As part of the educational process, we need to plan, practice, prepare, and educate the community and students of the importance of school security. We are very fortunate to live in communities which are great places to raise kids. For the most part, we are very sheltered from society’s ills, and crime is not something we often witness or are exposed to. Consequently, we tend to take for granted the comforts given to us by living in such quiet communities, easily forgetting the importance of being diligent in maintaining safe practices.

PURPOSE OF THE DISTRICT VISION COMMITTEE
District Dispatch May 2019
Time to Celebrate & Best Wishes Class of 2019
May 6-10 is Teacher Appreciation Week. On behalf of the WCUSD#15 Board of Education, I would like to personally thank all the WCUSD#15 teachers for what they do every day for our students. The teacher is the most important variable in the classroom, and our teachers unselfishly meet this challenge daily.
APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS
Due to the historical lack of a State of Illinois linear school funding payment schedule
over the past several years, WCUSD#15 has been deficit spending, spending reserves,
reducing programs, and being expected to do more with less revenue, while at the same
time trying to balance responsibilities to the tax payer and create opportunities for
students and staff. For a district with cash flow problems and the inability to borrow
money, WCUSD#15 faces financial challenges.

BUILDING THE BRIDGE
School to community relations is key to educational success for our district’s students. Building a bridge from home to your student’s classroom is an important connection for communication and active community involvement in our schools. Students and parents have an important voice in their education. Collaborating, communicating, and working with teachers is vital to a positive learning environment.
For the 2019-2020 school year WCUSD#15 is implementing residency checks for all new students entering the district, all Kindergarten students entering SES, all 5th grade students entering WJHS, and all 9th grade students entering WHS. The Williamsville-Sherman School District is asking parents and guardians who plan to enroll their upcoming K, 5th, and/or 9th grade children for the 2019-2020 school year to provide residency documentation.
WCUSD#15 will be closed tomorrow Thursday January 31. A decision will be made by 12:00 tomorrow regarding extracurricular activities and practices. IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE A BULLET! #bulletpride
IT’S TIME TO GIVE THANKS
As the Holiday Season approaches, I believe it would be a good time to recognize the people who make sure our students are safe, educated, and supported in our school district. As your Superintendent, I would like to publicly “THANK” the following groups who challenge and inspire the students of WCUSD#15.
Attention Parents of students at WCUSD#15: We value your input regarding feedback and improvements for our schools. Please consider taking the time to complete the 10 minute 5 Essentials Survey.
Parents with multiple children in multiple buildings will be to provide feedback and input for each building their child attends.
The information and data collected will be reflected on the 2019 Illinois School Report Card. Your feedback and input will help rank each of the WCUSD#15 Buildings.
The 2018 Illinois School Report Card data showed WCUSD#15 had 2-Exemplary Schools (WHS & WJHS) and 2-Commendable Schools (WMS & SES).
IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A BULLET!
Williamsville, Sherman, and Sangamon County Residents,
WCUSD#15 is extremely thankful to have a positive outcome on the 1-Cent County Schools Facilities Sales Tax! Thank you to the voters who recognized the need to update our facilities and provide our students a safe, secure and comfortable learning environment.
