·   Please, if your child is sick at all, keep your student at home!

·   Remember to call the office or attendance line when your child will not be at school.

District Attendance Line: (217) 566-2325

Sherman Elementary: (217) 496-2021

5th Grade Building: (217) 566-4070

Jr High: (217) 566-3600

High School: (217) 566-3361

If one of your children is home sick, ALL household siblings must stay home from school as well!

·            If your child stays home sick or is sent home with ANY COVID-19 symptoms, he/she must quarantine for 10 days from the onset of symptoms OR receive an alternative diagnosis from a physician OR obtain a negative COVID test result. He/she will not be able to return to school until so.

·            COVID-19 SYMPTOMS: Fever (100.4°F or higher), new onset of moderate to severe headache, shortness of breath, new cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain from unknown cause, new congestion/runny nose, new loss of sense of taste or smell, nausea, fatigue from unknown cause, muscle or body aches.

·            If your child is a close contact of a confirmed positive COVID-19 case (within 6ft for 15 minutes or greater) they must quarantine for 14 days from their last contact with the positive case.

·            You cannot test out of quarantine. If your child receives a negative COVID test, they still must complete their 14 day quarantine.

Volunteer Opportunities:

If any student is interested in signing up for any of the community service activities below or any new ones as they come out and are not yet a member of the National Honor Society, please sign-up for the "Students Interested in NHS and Community Service - 2020-2021" Google Classroom using the Class Code "ofjll27".  Once you join the Google Classroom, there will be a Google Form to complete to sign-up this year.

Williamsville C.U.S.D. #15 – Food Service Assistance - The Williamsville C.U.S.D. #15 is looking for volunteers each Monday to assist with their food service.  Volunteers will be needed from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Sherman Elementary School.  Volunteers will be able to sign-up to help in 1-hour increments, and they may sign-up for multiple 1-hour increments for each Monday.  Volunteers will be helping bag meals for distribution to students.  Since the volunteers will be working with food production, all hair needs to be restrained. If possible, long hair should be tied back, and everyone MUST wear a hat.  NO STUDENT SHOULD BE MISSING ANY REQUIRED ATTENDANCE FOR THEIR CLASSES, EITHER IN PERSON OR ONLINE, TO COMPLETE THIS COMMUNITY SERVICE.

Memorial’s Festival of Trees – Delivery of Trees - Memorial's Festival of Trees is seeking volunteers to box up trees in preparation for delivery to homes and businesses in the community.  Since this year's Festival of Trees is being done virtually, they will be able to complete the "tear-down" activities over several days and at various times.  The trees will need to be boxed and loaded for delivery during the week of November 9-13.  Due to the building size and the limited number of people that can help at one time due to COVID-19 restrictions, they are asking for 8-10 students for a 2-hour shift (3:00-5:00 p.m.) each day.  Duties will include assembling large boxes and boxing up 4-foot and 6.5-foot trees with considerable heavy lifting involved.  For this reason, they are seeking volunteers who are dressed appropriately (athletic clothes/work jeans, tennis shoes) and ready for the work.  All volunteers must be 16 years of age and know that health screenings and waivers will be required.  Masks are required.

Companions Journeying Together are looking for volunteers to assist with their charity gift wrapping at White Oaks Mall.  Volunteers are needed from Thursday, December 17 to Wednesday, December 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, December 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Students interested in volunteering need to sign up directly with Companions Journeying Together by e-mailing auntmarysvolunteers@gmail.com.

Williamsville-Sherman Food and Teen Gift Drive - Bag Delivery and Food Pick-Up - Each year the Williamsville High School organizes a food and teen gift drive for the Williamsville and Sherman communities with the proceeds going to assist Contact Ministries in Springfield, Illinois.  This is a major undertaking for the various groups within the high school, and volunteers are being sought to assist with delivering bags to the homes in the various neighborhoods throughout Williamsville and Sherman and in picking up those the bags that have been filled with food and other items being donated to the food and teen gift drive.  Volunteers helping to deliver the bags to the homes in the various neighborhoods anytime from Thursday, December 3, until Sunday, December 6, 2020.  Volunteers helping pick up the filled bags will be needed on Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m.  Volunteers will also be needed at the high school to help unload the cars and pack the trailer on Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Williamsville-Sherman Food and Teen Gift Drive - Stapling Signs to Bags

Each year the Williamsville High School organizes a food and teen gift drive for the Williamsville and Sherman communities with the proceeds going to assist Contact Ministries in Springfield, Illinois.  Before the bags can be delivered, the signs need to be stapled to each of the 3,600ish bags that will be delivered.  We are seeking volunteers to staple bags after school each day this week (November 10-13) from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and next Monday, November 16, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
