General Announcements

Congratulations to the Youth & Government students for a successful Pre-Leg II Sectional last Saturday. Three bill groups received first priority in their committees, and several students were elected to administrative offices. We are looking forward to the 71st Assembly at the end of February! We will meet next Monday, Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m. to finish revisions of your work before the it has to be submitted in January.

Congratulations to Brooke Heubner and Hope Hibbs on being selected to represent Williamsville High School at the HOBY Youth State Leadership Seminar.  Both girls will attend the 4-day State Leadership Seminar at Illinois Wesleyan University in June 2020.   

WANTED Babysitter: Local resident is looking for a babysitter to watch her 4yr old twins.  Every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday from 6:30am-7:15pm.  If interested, see Mrs. Bryant for details.

There will be extremely limited availability at the door.  The Williamsville High School Vocal Music Department cordially invites you to an afternoon or evening of song, food, and medieval humor!  Come experience one of WHS’s finest traditions! One-hundred additional tickets have been made available for both the tea and dinner in the "Outer Court" section.

Come join us for the full Madrigal experience: all of the Medieval music, Renaissance drama, and all the 21st-century water and bread crumbs you can consume.  The WHS Madrigal Ensemble presents the 7th annual “Beggar’s Night” Performance on Wednesday December 11th, 2019 – 6:30PM at the WJHS Fine Arts Center.

WILLIAMSVILLE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION – QUARTER AUCTIONS

The Williamsville Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with their Quarter Auctions to benefit different charities.  They need help on the second Thursday of every month from 5:15-8:15 p.m. to work concessions during the auctions and on the Wednesday before the auctions from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to set up chairs and tables.  The Quarter Auctions will take place at the Williamsville Community Center. 

 

WILLIAMSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL — CLEAN-UP FOR BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAMES

The custodians at Williamsville High School are looking for assistance cleaning out the bleachers after the home boys’ basketball games on Tuesday, December 17; Friday, December 20; Monday, December 23; Friday, January 10; Friday, January 24; Friday, January 31; Tuesday, February 4; Friday, February 7; and Tuesday, February 18.  They are looking for a couple of volunteers after each game, and while you will probably be needed for less than an hour, you will earn an hour of community service.

 

ANIMAL PROTECTIVE LEAGUE

APL is always looking for volunteers. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Volunteer opportunities include: dog walking, cleaning, dog & cat socialization, office work, adoption events and much more!   Sign up by emailing volunteer@apl-shelter.org or by calling Mary at 544-7387 x227. New volunteers must attend a "new volunteer orientation." 

 

SHERMAN AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE – VILLAGE CHRISTMAS PARTY

The Sherman Area Chamber of Commerce is organizing the Village Christmas Party this year.  The Village Christmas Party will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Sherman Elementary School.  Two volunteers are being sought to help kids put hot chocolate mix in a bag.

 

COMPANIONS JOURNEYING TOGETHER – AUNT MARY’S STORYBOOK PROJECT

Aunt Mary’s Storybook Project is looking for volunteers to help with their gift wrapping fundraiser at White Oaks Mall in Springfield.  Volunteers will be wrapping gifts brought to the wrapping station by patrons of the mall.  Volunteers need to be able to wrap gifts independently.  The fundraiser will be held on the following dates:  Monday, December 16 from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Tuesday, December 17 from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday, December 18 from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Thursday, December 19 from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Friday, December 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Saturday, December 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Volunteers will be able to request a shift that works best for their own personal schedule and need to e-mail auntmarysvolunteers@gmail.com with their preferred date(s) and hours.  Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
