Thank you to the six classes who donated items for the Villas Bingo Prizes.  112 items and $41 were collected.  Congratulations to Mr. Trimpe's Algebra 202 and Mrs. Beard's P.E. class for bringing in the most bingo prizes for the Villa.  They will receive breakfast when we return from break!

Kerber, Eck & Braeckel will host High School Preview Night on Wednesday,  May 1st from 6:30pm-8:00pm.  High School Preview Night is an opportunity for juniors and seniors to learn about the accounting field, CPA exam, possible career paths and to network with local professionals.  More information will be available as the date gets closer.

Free Swing Dance Lessons: Before the 8th Annual Williamsville Jazz Dinner, swing dance lessons will be offered in the WJHS Athletic Gym from 6:30-7:30 pm on the following dates:

WILLIAMSVILLE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION – QUARTER AUCTIONS

The Williamsville Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with their Quarter Auctions to benefit different charities.  They need help on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to work concessions during the auctions and on the Wednesday before the auctions from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to set up chairs and tables.  The Quarter Auctions will take place at the Williamsville Community Center.

   

LINCOLN LAND DOWN SYNDROME SOCIETY – CHILD CARE AT MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

Volunteers are being sought by the Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society to assist with childcare during membership meetings.  Upcoming meeting dates are Thursday, April 18, 2019; Thursday, June 13, 2019; and Thursday, July 11, 2019.  Meetings are held at Erin’s Pavilion at Edwin Watts Southwind Park.  Volunteers would need to arrive by 5:45 p.m. and stay until approximately 7:30 p.m.  Four volunteers are needed for each meeting.

  

ABRAHAM LINCOLN PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY AND MUSEUM – HISTORY DETECTIVE

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist as a History Detective.  Volunteers will be needed to facilitate a children’s scavenger hunt in the museum during Winter Break in December and Summer Break in June and July.  Volunteers will need to work a four-hour shift, either from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on any day of their choice during those timeframes.

 

WILLIAMSVILLE’S HEALTHY KIDS’ RUNNING SERIES

Williamsville’s Healthy Kids’ Running Series is looking for volunteers leading stretches, directing runners along the courses, helping keep kids in order at the finish line, etc.  The races take place at the Williamsville Park on Sunday afternoons April 14, 28, and May 5.  Volunteers would need to be at the park from about 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. 

  

WILLIAMSVILLE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION — WILLIAMSVILLE EASTER EGG HUNT

The Williamsville Community Foundation is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at the Williamsville Park on Saturday, April 13, 2019, from TBD to TBD.  They are looking for volunteers to help with refreshments, to organize the kids for the egg hunt, and to pass out toys on the day of the event. 

 

SHERMAN AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE — SHERMAN EASTER EGG HUNT

The Sherman Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Sherman Easter Egg Hunt at Sherman Elementary School on Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 9:00-11:30 a.m.  They are looking for volunteers to help set up, supervise the organized activities, and clean up after the event.

 

SHERMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

Sherman Elementary School is hosting a spring Scholastic Book Fair, and they need volunteers for various functions on the following dates:  Friday, April 26 – TBD and Thursday, May 2 - TBD.

 

ILLINOIS NATIONAL GUARD – ANNUAL SPRING EVENT

The Child & Youth Program Coordinator with the Illinois National Guard in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist with their Annual Spring Event that they are co-hosting at Camp Lincoln.  Volunteers will be needed on Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. helping with the children’s activities.  The event will take place at Camp Lincoln, Bldg. 10 located at 1301 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Springfield.

 

CAPITOL RADIO GROUP — EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA AT KNIGHTS ACTION PARK

The Capitol Radio Group is hosting their Easter Eggstravaganza at Knights Action Park on Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  They are looking for volunteers to help with refreshments, to organize the kids for the egg hunt, and to pass out toys on the day of the event, and they also need volunteers on Thursday, April 11, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to stuff the eggs and do other work in preparation for the event, and the stuffing of the Easter eggs will take place at their offices of the Capitol Radio Group, 3501 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield, IL.
