Junior GirlsThe nation’s largest and oldest scholarship program has over $1 billion of college scholarships to give to outstanding girls in the class of 2020.  The categories are: scholastic achievement (25%), personal interview (25%), self-expression (15%), talent (20%), and physical fitness as demonstrated through an aerobics routine (15%). www.DistinguishedYW.org.  Girls from the class of 2020 need to sign up this month to be considered! 

 

End of 3rd Quarter – March 15, Report Cards will be issued on March 27.

 

The Williamsville Sports Boosters have been a key organization in the success of the WCUSD 15 Athletic Department by providing a large number of resources to both our coaches and athletes to help them succeed in their respective sports; so far this school year, the booster club has given back over $65,000 to both high school and junior high sports. This brings the total to over $316,000 given back to the athletic department over the last six years!  You can continue to help this organization in their support of both Bee Bee and Bullet Athletics by attending the dueling pianos at Boondocks Pub in Springfield. The event will take place on Saturday, March 30 with dinner starting at 6:30 pm and the show at 7:30 pm

 

Chorus Summer Camp Scholarships: Williamsville Vocal Boosters will be awarding a $250 partial scholarship to two students to attend a choir camp this summer. The scholarship is open to students completing grades 9, 10, or 11. Applications can be picked up in the Guidance Office. Deadline to apply is Friday, March 29th. Applications can be returned to the Guidance Office. 

 

Viper Mine is offering five $1000 scholarships to Williamsville students only. It is open to any graduating senior from WHS who is planning to major in science, computer science, engineering, or math.  Applications can be picked up in the Guidance Department or can be downloaded on the Guidance webpage. Applications are due April 25, 2019

 

Mark Your Calendars – High School Musical will be performed on March 22 & 23!  Show times are 7:00pm on March 22nd, and 2:00pm & 7:00pm on March 23rd.  Tickets are purchased at the door:  $7 for adults, $5 for students.

 

Senior Graduation Orders – Jostens will be here on April 12 during lunch shifts to pass out orders. 

 

Junior Class Officers – Jostens will meet with you on April 12 at the very beginning of 6th hour.

WILLIAMSVILLE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION – QUARTER AUCTIONS

The Williamsville Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with their Quarter Auctions to benefit different charities.  They need help on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to work concessions during the auctions and on the Wednesday before the auctions from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to set up chairs and tables.  The Quarter Auctions will take place at the Williamsville Community Center.

   

LINCOLN LAND DOWN SYNDROME SOCIETY – CHILD CARE AT MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

Volunteers are being sought by the Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society to assist with childcare during membership meetings.  Upcoming meeting dates are Thursday, March 14, 2019; Thursday, April 18, 2019; Thursday, June 13, 2019; and Thursday, July 11, 2019.  Meetings are held at Erin’s Pavilion at Edwin Watts Southwind Park.  Volunteers would need to arrive by 5:45 p.m. and stay until approximately 7:30 p.m.  Four volunteers are needed for each meeting.

  

ABRAHAM LINCOLN PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY AND MUSEUM – HISTORY DETECTIVE

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist as a History Detective.  Volunteers will be needed to facilitate a children’s scavenger hunt in the museum during Winter Break in December and Summer Break in June and July.  Volunteers will need to work a four-hour shift, either from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on any day of their choice during those timeframes.

 

WILLIAMSVILLE’S HEALTHY KIDS’ RUNNING SERIES

Williamsville’s Healthy Kids’ Running Series is looking for volunteers leading stretches, directing runners along the courses, helping keep kids in order at the finish line, etc.  The races take place at the Williamsville Park on Sunday afternoons April 7, 14, 28, and May 5.  Volunteers would need to be at the park from about 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. 

  

WILLIAMSVILLE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION — WILLIAMSVILLE EASTER EGG HUNT

The Williamsville Community Foundation is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at the Williamsville Park on Saturday, April 13, 2019, from TBD to TBD.  They are looking for volunteers to help with refreshments, to organize the kids for the egg hunt, and to pass out toys on the day of the event, and they also need volunteers on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to stuff the eggs and do other work in preparation for the event. 

 

SHERMAN AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE — SHERMAN EASTER EGG HUNT

The Sherman Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Sherman Easter Egg Hunt at Sherman Elementary School on Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 9:00-11:30 a.m.  They are looking for volunteers to help set up, supervise the organized activities, and clean up after the event.
