Seniors: Please make sure to check the guidance scholarship page--there are a lot of scholarships being added with March 1 deadlines. Apply today!! 

 

Illinois Federation of Business Women’s Clubs (IFBW) will be awarding six $2,000 scholarships to deserving young women in Illinois. High school seniors and returning college students are eligible to apply. Scholarship applications are due March 1, 2019. More info available on the guidance webpage. 

 

Juniors with a 3.5 GPA and 25 ACT:  Commonwealth Honors Academy will be held June 8-29, 2019.  Applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2019.  For applications, visit our website murraystate.edu/cha or call 270-809-3166.

 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) meets every Friday morning at 7:26am in Mr. O'Connor's room. Join us for food, fun, and a Bible study. Anyone is welcome

 

FCCLA/FFA Winter Formal will be held Saturday, February 23rd from 8-11 pm.  Tickets will be on sale for $5 each during both lunches from 2/19 - 2/22.  You must have pre-approved guest form completed to purchase a ticket for a student who does not attend WHS.  If you do not purchase a ticket in advance they will be available at the door the night of the dance for $20 each.

Quest Bridge College Prep Scholars Program is looking for high-achieving high school juniors from low-income backgrounds to apply for the College Prep Scholars Program. The College Prep Scholars Program helps prepare outstanding juniors for admission to the nation's best colleges. Awards may include: full scholarships to summer programs, funding for laptops, campus visits, or standardized test fees, feedback on college essays and more! Williamsville Works – Career Open House – February 26 – 6:30-8:00pm – All attendees will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 gift card from Caseys.  Over ten participating organizations!  Tips on interview skills will be given from 7-7:30pm.  Held at Williamsville Public Library.

 

Orthopedic Center of Illinois Foundation Scholarship applications available on the guidance webpage or hard copies in the guidance office. Open to graduating seniors in Sangamon County planning to study health care in the fall. Deadline to apply is March 22.

WILLIAMSVILLE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION – QUARTER AUCTIONS

The Williamsville Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with their Quarter Auctions to benefit different charities.  They need help on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to work concessions during the auctions and on the Wednesday before the auctions from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to set up chairs and tables.  The Quarter Auctions will take place at the Williamsville Community Center.

   

LINCOLN LAND DOWN SYNDROME SOCIETY – CHILD CARE AT MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

Volunteers are being sought by the Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society to assist with childcare during membership meetings.  Upcoming meeting dates are Thursday, March 14, 2019; Thursday, April 18, 2019; Thursday, June 13, 2019; and Thursday, July 11, 2019.  Meetings are held at Erin’s Pavilion at Edwin Watts Southwind Park.  Volunteers would need to arrive by 5:45 p.m. and stay until approximately 7:30 p.m.  Four volunteers are needed for each meeting.

  

WILLIAMSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL — CLEAN-UP FOR BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAMES

The custodians at Williamsville High School are looking for assistance cleaning out the bleachers after the home boys’ basketball games on Friday, February 22 (Regionals).  They are looking for a couple of volunteers per game, and while you will probably be needed for less than an hour, you will earn an hour of community service. 

 

ABRAHAM LINCOLN PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY AND MUSEUM – HISTORY DETECTIVE

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist as a History Detective.  Volunteers will be needed to facilitate a children’s scavenger hunt in the museum during Winter Break in December and Summer Break in June and July.  Volunteers will need to work a four-hour shift, either from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on any day of their choice during those timeframes.
