6:00pm - National Honor Society Induction Ceremony


Jostens Graduation Order Delivery will be today during lunch.  Final payment must be paid to receive cap & gown.  Credit and debit payments can be accepted at the Jostens’ office by calling 217-483-8989.  The WHS Office is able to accept cash only payments.

General Announcements:


Seniors: Applications for the Orlene Drobish Moore scholarship (open only to WHS seniors) are available in the counseling office. Complete applications must be returned to the Guidance office on or before March 23rd


Youth & Government: Y&G Meetings next Monday 3/12 at 6:00 pm and Wednesday 3/14 at 5:30 pm for final practice before the Assembly!


The Illinois Heartland Decorative Artists have established a First Place $1000 scholarship and a Second Place $500 scholarship for a graduating senior who will attend an accredited art program. IHDA will also award $250 of art supplies to the FIRST Place student's high school art department, SECOND place student's high school art department will receive $125 in art supplies. Scholarship Opportunity for Seniors: The Townships of Illinois will be issuing 7-$1,500 scholarships. Reminder to seniors: Menard Electric Scholarship Program is offering: One $1,000 scholarship to a 4-year college or university, One $500 scholarship to a 2-year community college and One $500 scholarship to an accredited technical school. One winner will be selected from among those three scholarship winners to attend the Youth to Washington Tour June 8-15, 2018. Applicants must be a high school senior and their parent/legal guardian must be a Menard Electric Cooperative member with their primary residence or business served by the cooperative. Deadline to apply is approaching March 1st 2018.     


Bullet Basketball senior guard, Casey Tuttle has advanced to the semifinals in the fan voting competition for the American Family Insurance 3-Point Championships. During voting in the quarterfinals, Casey once again had the largest margin of victory across all matchups. He is now one step closer to earning the final spot in the 2018 American Family Insurance 3-Point Championship and compete in the finals at the NCAA Final Four in San Antonio, TX later this Spring. In order for Casey to advance to the finals in San Antonio, we still need your help! Voting for the semifinals starts on, Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 12:00 pm CST by going to www.amfam.com/fanvote and then clicking on Boy’s 3-Point link in the upper right hand corner of the page. You will still be limited to one vote per device per calendar day for each head-to-head bracket matchup. Once the clock hits midnight, you are free to vote again for that next day.  Voting for the quarterfinals will be open from March 1, 2018 through March 8, 2018.

Attention Sophomore Parents: On March 14th, 2018 the Regional Office of Career and Technical Education will present the annual CONNECT Career Day event at Lincoln Land Community College. This opportunity is available to sophomores and WHS has made arrangements for our students to attend. ROCTE would also like to invite parents to attend Career Day. This is an opportunity to visit with approximately 50 local business representatives and to learn about careers in a wide range of career pathways. Our group will be attending the Keynote Speaker session from 9:15-10:05 and then move to the career exhibits in Cass Gym at 10:10am until 11:00am. Please contact the high school counseling office with any questions.  


Plato & Flora S. McCourtney Foundation Scholarship applications are available-preference is given to students seeking a technical or scientific education. Applicants must be in the top 10% of their class to apply. Deadline to apply is April 15. The scholarship is renewable up to four years.

Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society – Child Care at Membership Meetings -

Volunteers are being sought by the Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society to assist with child care during membership meetings.  The last upcoming meeting date is Thursday, March 8, 2018.  Meetings are held at Erin’s Pavilion at Edwin Watts Southwind Park.  Volunteers would need to arrive by 5:45 p.m. and stay until approximately 7:30 p.m.  Four volunteers are needed for each meeting.


Williamsville Community Foundation — Quarter Auctions – For anyone needing community service hours, the Williamsville Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with their Quarter Auctions to benefit different charities.  They need help on the second Wednesday of every month from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to set up chairs at the Williamsville Community Center, and then they will need help on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to work concessions


Williamsville’s Healthy Kids’ Running Series – Spring Series- They are looking for volunteers to help leading stretches, directing runners along the courses, helping keep kids in order at the finish line, etc.  The races take place at the Williamsville Park on Sunday afternoons from April 8 to May 6.  Volunteers would need to be at the park from about 3:30-5:30 p.m.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.
