S.A.V.E. Club is encouraging all students to Say Something if they witness violence or hear about a possibility of violence.  We want you to encourage others to "Say Something!

 

Y&G Butter Braids will be delivered on Tuesday, 11/7, and must be picked up by Y&G members immediately after school. If you have a conflict, please send someone to pick them up for you, as they must be put in the freezer immediately. Ms. Faloon-Sullivan has to leave that day at 4:00 pm sharp and cannot store your order.

Seniors - High school seniors who demonstrate exceptional leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship are invited to apply for the 2018 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program. This program annually provides college-bound students with $10,000 renewable scholarships – up to $40,000 total per recipient – and supports them as they lead and serve in college and beyond.  Applications for the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program will be accepted online until January 4, 2018. Additional information, eligibility requirements, and a link to the application are available.

 

2017 yearbooks: 2017 Graduates can pick up their yearbooks starting Tuesday morning.  If you have any questions, contact Mr. Gudwien.  Additionally, students who did not order a 2017 yearbook can purchase one from Mr. Gudwien for $58.  The extras will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

 

Sophomores – Class rings will be delivered on Tuesday, November 7, before school.

 

The NSDAR (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of degrees in diverse disciplines including history, law, nursing, and education. Further information has been added to the scholarship link on the guidance webpage. You do not have to be a DAR nominee to apply. 

 

Thomas H. Moore Illinois Electric Cooperatives Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund offers $2,000 scholarships; some are reserved for four-year universities and others for two-year community colleges. Details are online.  Again this year, the applications can be filled out online from a link on our website at www.menard.com. Deadline to apply is December 31, 2017.

Seniors who plan to major in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering, please take the time to read about Stokes Educational Scholarship Program by visiting IntelligenceCareers.gov/NSA/nsastudents.html and search "scholarships". Applications must be submitted by November 15, 2017. The Stokes Educational Scholarship Program is a tremendous opportunity to gain valuable experience in your field while attending college and have a job waiting for you with the National Security Agency (NSA) upon graduation.

The Sangamon CEO Program needs volunteers to help with their Zombie Run on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at “The Shed” at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.  Volunteers will be needed from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

 

Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society – Child Care at Membership Meetings -

Volunteers are being sought by the Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society to assist with child care during membership meetings.  Upcoming meeting dates are Thursday, November 8, 2017; Thursday, January 11, 2018; and Thursday, March 8, 2018.  Meetings are held at Erin’s Pavilion at Edwin Watts Southwind Park.  Volunteers would need to arrive by 5:45 p.m. and stay until approximately 7:30 p.m.  Four volunteers are needed for each meeting.

 

183rd Fighter Wing – Easter/Spring Event - For anyone needing community service hours, the Airman and Family Readiness Program of the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist with their Easter/Spring Event that they are co-hosting at Camp Lincoln.  Volunteers will be needed on Saturday, March 24, 2018, from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. helping with the children’s activities.  The event will take place at Camp Lincoln, Bldg. 10 located at 1301 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Springfield. 

 

Williamsville Community Foundation — Quarter Auctions – For anyone needing community service hours, the Williamsville Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with their Quarter Auctions to benefit different charities.  They need help on the second Wednesday of every month from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to set up chairs at the Williamsville Community Center, and then they will need help on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to work concessions during the auctions. 

 

Sherman Holiday Wonderland – Volunteers are being sought to assist with the Sherman Holiday Wonderland, which will be hosted at the Sherman Athletic Club on Sunday, November 19, 2017.  Proceeds from the Sherman Holiday Wonderland are put toward the Sharon Miller Scholarship.  Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, November 19, 2017, helping vendors unload from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and working the Welcome Table from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., and additional volunteers are needed to help set up for the event.  Set up will be either Saturday evening or early Sunday morning, but that time has not yet been confirmed.

 

183rd Fighter Wing – Children’s Christmas Party – the Airman and Family Readiness Program of the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist with their Annual Children’s Christmas Party.  Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, December 3, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. helping with the children’s craft tables.  The location for the event has not yet been determined. 

 

Sherman Elementary School—Scholastic Book Fair - Sherman Elementary School is hosting their Scholastic Book Fair in conjunction with Parent-Teacher Conferences, and they need volunteers for various functions to work two-hour shifts on the following dates:  Thursday, November 2—5:00-6:00 p.m.; Tuesday, November 7—5:00-7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, November 8—12:30-2:30 p.m., 2:30-4:30 p.m., 4:30-6:30 p.m. and 6:30-8:00 p.m.; and Thursday, November 9—8:00-10:00 a.m. and 10:30-11:30 a.m. 

 

Williamsville Middle School—Scholastic Book Fair - For anyone needing community service hours, Williamsville School is hosting their Scholastic Book Fair in conjunction with Parent-Teacher Conferences, and they need volunteers for various functions to work two- or three-hour shifts on the following dates:  Wednesday, November 8—12:30-2:00 p.m., 2:00-3:30 p.m., 3:30-5:00 p.m., 5:00-6:30 p.m., and 6:30-8:00 p.m.; and Thursday, November 9—8:00-10:00 a.m. 

 

Williamsville Public Library and Museum – Space Day  - For anyone needing community service hours, the Williamsville Public Library and Museum is looking for volunteers to assist with their “Space Day.”  Volunteers will be needed to assist with various space-related activities with elementary school students on Thursday, November 9, 2017, from 9:00 a.m.-noon and 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Williamsville Public Library and Museum. November 9—8:00-10:00 a.m.
