The WHS play, Our Town, directed by John Sivak, will be performed Saturday, October 21st, at 7:30 PM and Sunday, October 22, at 2PM at the District Fine Arts Center

Our Town is a 1938 play by American playwright Thornton Wilder. It tells the story of the fictional American small town of Grover's Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens

 

Sunday, October 22:

Breakfast With The Bullets -please join us at Fire and Ale on Sunday for Breakfast with the Bullets from 7:30 am-10:00 am to help raise funds for their quest to a State Title. The breakfast will include all you can eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, and an order of sausage for $6.00.  

 

The Bullet Football Players will be there to mingle and serve breakfast. The funds raised will be used to help cover the cost of team meals and other play off related expenses.

Wrestling Meeting – Parent-athlete wrestling meeting on Wed., October 25, at 6 pm in the RHS cafeteria.

 

WHS Parent-Athlete Night - The Williamsville High School Athletic Department will be hosting its mandatory parent/athlete night for all students who will be or are interested in participating in a sport for the upcoming winter season. This includes boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, and cheerleading. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 25 starting at 6:30 pm in db20171019 gym at Williamsville High School. After the db20171019 session is finished in the gym, each sport will separate and conduct sport specific meetings. Important information for both open gyms, as well as when tryouts and practices will take place will be covered at this time. It is highly recommended that you bring your health insurance card with you, as mandatory insurance waivers and IHSA paperwork will also be completed at this meeting. As a reminder, student-athletes will need updated physicals in order to participate in their desired sport. Head coaches for each individual sport will also be collecting updated physicals if you have them as well. If you have any additional questions you can either contact the head coach of each sport or Athletic Director Adam Eucker.

High School Cheerleading Basketball and Competition Squad Tryout Information:  Anyone who is interested in trying out for the '17-18’ Cheerleading Basketball/Competition Squad must attend the Winter Parent/Athlete meeting being held on Wednesday, October 25 starting at 6:30 pm in the db20171019 gym at WHS. Cheerleading will move to the cafeteria for its' specific meeting afterwards. It is highly recommended that you bring your health insurance card with you, as mandatory insurance waivers and IHSA paperwork will also be completed at this meeting. As a reminder, student-athletes will need updated physicals in order to participate. The athletic handbook is available online on the district webpage if you want to access it prior to the meeting.

Seniors - High school seniors who demonstrate exceptional leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship are invited to apply for the 2018 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program. This program annually provides college-bound students with $10,000 renewable scholarships – up to $40,000 total per recipient – and supports them as they lead and serve in college and beyond.  Applications for the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program will be accepted online until January 4, 2018. Additional information, eligibility requirements, and a link to the application are available online. Memorial Medical Center will hold Be Aware Women's Fair from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Saturday, October 21st in the Orr Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds . Over two dozen health screenings and exhibits covering topics such as finance, fitness, fashion, health, home decor, education, and nutrition will be available.  Volunteers are needed staff the event during two-hour shifts. Volunteer forms are available in the guidance office and more information is available on the web site www.BeAwareWomensFair.com.

2017 yearbooks: 2017 Graduates can pick up their yearbooks starting Tuesday morning.  If you have any questions, contact Mr. Gudwien.  Additionally, students who did not order a 2017 yearbook can purchase one from Mr. Gudwien for $58.  The extras will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

 

Homecoming Lost & Found - The following items were left at the homecoming dance:  Two phone chargers and blocks, 1 pair of black pumps size 7.5.  You can pick them up in Mrs. Walsh's room!

183rd Fighter Wing –Halloween Event – For anyone needing community service hours, the Airman and Family Readiness Program of the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist with their Halloween Event that they are co-hosting at Camp Lincoln.  Volunteers will be needed on Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. helping with the children’s activities.  The event will take place at Camp Lincoln, Bldg. 10 located at 1301 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Springfield.  Volunteers are also encouraged—but not required—to dress in costumes if they can. 

 

Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society – Child Care at Membership Meetings -

Volunteers are being sought by the Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society to assist with child care during membership meetings.  Upcoming meeting dates are Thursday, November 8, 2017; Thursday, January 11, 2018; and Thursday, March 8, 2018.  Meetings are held at Erin’s Pavilion at Edwin Watts Southwind Park.  Volunteers would need to arrive by 5:45 p.m. and stay until approximately 7:30 p.m.  Four volunteers are needed for each meeting.

 

183rd Fighter Wing – Easter/Spring Event - For anyone needing community service hours, the Airman and Family Readiness Program of the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist with their Easter/Spring Event that they are co-hosting at Camp Lincoln.  Volunteers will be needed on Saturday, March 24, 2018, from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. helping with the children’s activities.  The event will take place at Camp Lincoln, Bldg. 10 located at 1301 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Springfield. 

 

Williamsville Community Foundation — Quarter Auctions – For anyone needing community service hours, the Williamsville Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with their Quarter Auctions to benefit different charities.  They need help on the second Wednesday of every month from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to set up chairs at the Williamsville Community Center, and then they will need help on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to work concessions during the auctions. 

 

Williamsville’s Healthy Kids’ Running Series – Fall Series – For anyone needing community service hours, the Williamsville’s Healthy Kids’ Running Series is looking for volunteers.  They are looking for volunteers to help leading stretches, directing runners along the courses, helping keep kids in order at the finish line, etc.  The races take place at the Williamsville Park on Sunday afternoons from September 24 through October 22.  Volunteers would need to be at the park from about 3:00-5:00 p.m. 

  

Capitol Radio Group—Zoolie Ghoulie at Henson Robinson Zoo – For anyone needing community service hours, the Capitol Radio Group is sponsoring Zoolie Ghoulie at Henson Robinson Zoo from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017, and 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22, 2017.  Volunteers will be passing out candy in the safe trick-or-treating event inside the zoo gates or working in the carnival area.  Volunteers are also encouraged—but not required—to dress in costumes if they can.

 

Sherman Holiday Wonderland – Volunteers are being sought to assist with the Sherman Holiday Wonderland, which will be hosted at the Sherman Athletic Club on Sunday, November 19, 2017.  Proceeds from the Sherman Holiday Wonderland are put toward the Sharon Miller Scholarship.  Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, November 19, 2017, helping vendors unload from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and working the Welcome Table from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., and additional volunteers are needed to help set up for the event.  Set up will be either Saturday evening or early Sunday morning, but that time has not yet been confirmed.

 

183rd Fighter Wing – Children’s Christmas Party – the Airman and Family Readiness Program of the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist with their Annual Children’s Christmas Party.  Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, December 3, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. helping with the children’s craft tables.  The location for the event has not yet been determined. 

 

Sherman Elementary School—Scholastic Book Fair - Sherman Elementary School is hosting their Scholastic Book Fair in conjunction with Parent-Teacher Conferences, and they need volunteers for various functions to work two-hour shifts on the following dates:  Thursday, November 2—5:00-6:00 p.m.; Tuesday, November 7—5:00-7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, November 8—12:30-2:30 p.m., 2:30-4:30 p.m., 4:30-6:30 p.m. and 6:30-8:00 p.m.; and Thursday, November 9—8:00-10:00 a.m. and 10:30-11:30 a.m. 

 

Williamsville Middle School—Scholastic Book Fair - For anyone needing community service hours, Williamsville School is hosting their Scholastic Book Fair in conjunction with Parent-Teacher Conferences, and they need volunteers for various functions to work two- or three-hour shifts on the following dates:  Wednesday, November 8—12:30-2:00 p.m., 2:00-3:30 p.m., 3:30-5:00 p.m., 5:00-6:30 p.m., and 6:30-8:00 p.m.; and Thursday, November 9—8:00-10:00 a.m. 

 

Williamsville Public Library and Museum – Space Day  - For anyone needing community service hours, the Williamsville Public Library and Museum is looking for volunteers to assist with their “Space Day.”  Volunteers will be needed to assist with various space-related activities with elementary school students on Thursday, November 9, 2017, from 9:00 a.m.-noon and 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Williamsville Public Library and Museum.  November 9—8:00-10:00 a.m.
