Any sophomore wanting to sign up to run for a class office for next year may do so starting on Monday, May 15, 2017The sign-up sheet is in Mr. Martens’ room (Room 103).  Class offices consist of:  President, Vice President, and Secretary.  Any student interested in running must sign up no later than 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.  A cumulative 2.75 non-weighted GPA is a prerequisite for students to be selected as class officers.  Elections will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017, during their World History classes.

 

Senior Class Trip – The class trip is moving from Monday, May 22, to Tuesday, May 23.  Please let Mr. Halford know if you cannot make the new date.  Also, if this new date works better for you and you would like to attend, please see Mr. Halford.

Lunch:  BBQ pulled pork sandwich or Turkey & cheese sandwich wrap, sweet baked beans, diced pears, chocolate grahams, ½ pint of milk

 

Yearbook Orders Due Today:  The absolute last day to guarantee a 2017 yearbook is to order by May 18

Volunteers Hours Available

 

Village of Williamsville — Memorial Day -  For anyone needing community service hours, the Village of Williamsville is looking for volunteers to help put flags on the graves of veterans on Saturday, May 27, 2017.  They are looking for four volunteers.  Volunteers will meet with Mayor Tom Yokley at McDonalds at 8:00 a.m. and will be needed for about 2.5 hours.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.

 

United Cerebral Palsy – Lincoln Land Charity Championship - For anyone needing community service hours, the United Cerebral Palsy is looking for volunteers to help with the Lincoln Land Charity Championship.  The Tour is Monday, June 19 through Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Panther Creek Country Club.  The Chair of Ecology (Trash) is looking for two or three people to work three hour shifts (10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., 1:00-4:00 p.m., and 4:00-7:00 p.m.).  Shirts will be provided, and they are asking volunteers to wear khaki shorts or pants and bring gloves.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.

 

Sherman Elementary School – Summer Bridges - Sherman Elementary School is looking for volunteers for the summer school program, called Summer Bridges.  The program begins on July 6th and will run every Tuesday and Thursday morning until July 27th.  The subjects that will be emphasized this summer are reading and mathematics.  A classroom teacher will be the facilitator, and they are seeking high school students to work in small groups with the materials the teacher provides.  The commitment would be about three hours in the morning from 8:00-11:00 a.m.  These hours would count as community service and will be considered an NHS activity for the 2017-2018 school year.  Students can commit themselves to all 7 sessions or sign-up on a day-by-day basis.

 

 

Job Opportunity – If you are interesting in working with Ted Hodgson on his produce farm this summer, please sign up in the office.

 

Sherman United Methodist Church is updating their kid sitting list for parents.  This list is given to parents looking for teens to sit for their kids.  If you would like to be included  on this list please email kpattendance@yahoo.com or call the church and leave a voicemail at 496-2338 ext. 8.  Please leave your name, contact #, and year in school.  Any questions, please contact Carmen Arnberger, Director at the same email and phone listed previously.

 

 

Seniors – Graduation practice will be held at WHS on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 9:00AM in the WHS Gym.  This is mandatory for all seniors going through the ceremony.  Come Hungry … Breakfast will be provided by the Senior Parents immediately following the practice.

Williamsville & Sherman Public Libraries will be open until 9:00 p.m. on 5/23 - 5/25 to study for finals.  They will provide free coffee and snacks as well.

Teachers will be in their rooms at 8:18 each day of exams if students have questions or would like to study.  Students do not need to arrive until between 8:45 and 9:00 a.m.  If students who ride the bus cannot arrange their own transportation, they will arrive at their regular time and report to their first exam classroom at 8:18.  Once a student arrives they must stay all day on days 1 and 2. 

 

All students may leave at 2:15 p.m., but not before, on days 1 and 2 of the exams.  If transportation is a problem, students can report to the gym to be supervised by Mr. Furlow on day one and two of exams.  On day three of exams, students may leave if they have 4th hour Resource or once they have completed their last exam, and the buses will run at 11:30 a.m. on this day. 

 

Students:  Please note that you must leave school grounds if you leave early on Day 3 of exams.  You cannot stay in the building.  You are not allowed to go to the junior high.
