Send a Crush to Your Crush!  Student Council will be selling Crush Grams that will be delivered 8th hour Tuesday, February 14Send an orange crush to your friends, a grape crush to someone you like, and a strawberry crush to the love of your life!  Cost is $1 per crush gram.

Lunch:  Cheese calzone or Toasted cheese sandwich, homemade chili, mini saltine crackers, baby carrots, fresh fruit, ½ pint of milk

 

Students who are interested in working with Bullets TV next year – There will be a meeting in Mr. Gudwien’s room last 15 minutes of both lunch shifts on Friday, February 10.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Gudwien.

The FCCLA/FFA Winter Formal will be held Saturday February 25th from 8 -11.  Tickets will be on sale Tuesday February 21 through Thursday February 23rd  during lunch, and Friday February 24th from Mrs. Matulevich for $5.00 each.  Tickets will be available at the door, but will be $10 each at that time.  Make sure to get a form in advance from the office if you will be taking a date from another school.  See you all there!!! 

 

On behalf of Pleasant Plains Athletics, we would like to extend this invitation to your student athletes, parents, counselors, administration and coaches.  On Thursday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the HS Cafetorium, Wes Simmons is going to present information for "Guiding the College Bound Athlete".  

 

Topics Covered in the Seminar Include:

·         · Explain the NCAA Eligibility Center and when/how to register

·         · Discuss the opportunities at D-III, NAIA, and junior colleges

·         · Provide academic eligibility requirements needed to be eligible to play

·         · Explain how to schedule “unofficial visits” and when to start taking them

·         · Teach student-athletes about the commitment it takes to play in college

·         · Help families create a “Recruiting Plan”

·         · Show parents and student-athletes how to find the right schools

 

Plato and Flora S. McCourtney Foundation Scholarship: Applications are available in the guidance office-preference is given to students seeking a technical or scientific education for students in the top 10 percent of the class. The scholarship is renewable to awarded students up to four years. Applications must be postmarked by April 15th. 

Young Women in Public Affairs Award-The program is open to young women ages 16-19 who demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism, experience in student or local government, workplace leadership, volunteer leadership achievements, and other activities which show a commitment to the empowerment of women. The award is $500 to one deserving young woman. An official fillable application is available online at www.zonta.org. Deadline is February 28, 2017. 

 

The WHS After-Prom Committee is hosting a bowling night at King Pin on Sunday, February 19 from 9 – 11 pmThe cost is $15, and this covers your shoe rental and bowling.  Come out and support the WHS After-Prom.
