WHS Daily Bulletin

 

The Yearbook class will be taking orders for the 2016-2017 yearbooks today and Thursday during lunch.  Yearbooks cost $58.  The books are $63 if you would like your name stamped on it and icons added to it.  Make checks payable to WHS.  Students can also order yearbooks online at jostens.com.  Yearbooks will be on sale on the Jostens’ website through May 2017.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on November 9 (12:30-3:30, 4:00-8:00 PM) or November 10 (8:00-11:00 AM).  You need to sign up for individual meeting times with teachers listed on your student’s schedule.  Scroll down the list and pick times that work with your schedule.  Once you have selected all conference times you want, please hit the submit button.  It will prompt you for contact information.

High School Cheerleading Basketball and Competition Squad Tryout Information - Anyone who is interested in trying out for the '16-'17 Cheerleading Basketball/Competition Squad must attend the Winter Parent/Athlete meeting being held on Monday, October 24 starting at 6:00 pm in the db20161026 gym at WHS. Cheerleading will move to the cafeteria for its' specific meeting afterwards. It is highly recommended that you bring your health insurance card with you, as mandatory insurance waivers and IHSA paperwork will also be completed at this meeting. As a reminder, student-athletes will need updated physicals in order to participate. The athletic handbook is available online on the district webpage if you want to access it prior to the meeting.

Sherman United Methodist Church Kids Place afterschool program is looking to update our sitter list for parents.  We have lots of parents looking for teens to watch their kids on the weekends, over breaks, and sometimes in the evenings.  Each year we start a new list that we print and hand out to parents.  If you would like your name included in this list, please email Carmen Arnberger, director at kpattendance@yahoo.com  with your name, grade, and telephone number.  Even if you gave us your name last year, please contact us again so we know you still want to be included on this list.

 

Community Service/Volunteer Info:

183rd Fighter Wing – Trunk or Treat Event - For anyone needing community service hours, the Airman and Family Readiness Program of the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist with their Trunk or Treat Event that they are co-hosting at Camp Lincoln.  Volunteers will be needed on Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 12:00-5:00 p.m. helping with the children’s activities.  The event will take place at Camp Lincoln located at 1301 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Springfield.  Volunteers are also encouraged—but not required—to dress in costumes if they can.  If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

 

Parent/Teacher Conferences – Online Math Content Volunteers - For anyone needing community service hours, the elementary school, middle school, and junior high school are each looking for volunteers for during Parent/Teacher Conferences to work in their computer labs to help parents gain access to their children’s online math content.  Two volunteers are being sought for each of the shifts, which include:  Wednesday, November 9 – 12:30-3:30 p.m.; Wednesday, November 9 – 3:30-6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, November 9 – 6:30-8:00 p.m.; and Thursday, November 10 – 8:30-10:00 a.m.  There will also be a short training you will need to attend at the Williamsville Junior High School prior to the conferences.  Details for that training are yet to be determined.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.

Sherman Holiday Wonderland:  Volunteers are being sought to assist with the Sherman Holiday Wonderland, which will be hosted at the Sherman Athletic Club on Sunday, November 20, 2016.  Proceeds from the Sherman Holiday Wonderland are put toward the Sharon Miller Scholarship.  Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, November 20, 2016, helping vendors unload from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and working the Welcome Table from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., and additional volunteers are needed to help set up for the event.  Set up will be either Saturday evening or early Sunday morning, but that time has not yet been confirmed.

 

Williamsville Community Foundation — Quarter Auctions:  For anyone needing community service hours, the Williamsville Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with their Quarter Auctions to benefit different charities.  They need help on the second Wednesday of every month from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to set up chairs at the Williamsville Community Center, and then they will need help on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to work concessions during the auctions.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.

 

183rd Fighter Wing – Children’s Christmas Party - For anyone needing community service hours, the Airman and Family Readiness Program of the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield are looking for volunteers to assist with their Annual Children’s Christmas Party.  Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, December 11, 2016, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. helping with the children’s craft tables.  The event will take place at base of the 183rd Fighter Wing at 3101 J. David Jones Parkway in Springfield.
