Orders are being taken by Tuesday, October 12, for Pink Out! Shirts for the football game on October 21, 2016.  Since we are not in school on Friday or Monday, please note the orders are due the day we come back.  In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Williamsville and Athens schools are teaming up for a cure.  Hooded sweatshirts and t-shirts are available in both charcoal gray or pink. Pink jackets are also being sold for Survivors only.  Names of survivors will be recognized at halftime.  Survivors can indicate on the order form if they would like to participate. Order forms are available in the office.

Seniors: Jack Kent Cooke Foundation scholarship program opened September 30. Internships, study abroad, and other opportunities are available through the $40,000 per year Cooke College Scholarship Program. Check the guidance webpage for upcoming details. 

 

Congrats to the Lady Bullets Golf Team - Regional Champions! Congratulations to Margaux Thuillez on medaling with a score of 74!  The girls will advance to sectionals on Monday, October 10 at the Lincoln Elks Golf Course.  Good Luck!

 

Congrats to the Boys Golf Team at Regionals!  They placed 2nd at Greenview shooting a team score of 354. Eli Reevis scored the 2nd best score in the tournament with a 79. Josh Gray shot a 83, Coldin Calvert shot a 95, and Jake Pennell had a 97. These golfers, along with Colton Ratliff and Derrick Cox, will compete in Sectionals on Monday, October 10, at Hawthorn Ridge in Aledo. Good Luck Bullets! 

 

Eureka College will be hosting a financial aid workshop and completion night on October 19th at 6:30pm. Spicy snacks will be served to particpants in the Rigazio classroom 108, Sanders Hall. Scholastic Bowl Try-outs and Practice - If you are a current player or want to try out for scholastic bowl, please see the information below: 

·         Juniors and Seniors: The first practice, along with try-outs for new players, will be held on Oct 17th at 3:30 - 4:30pm in the library. 

·         Freshmen and Sophomores: The first practice, along with try-outs for new players, will be held on Oct 18th at 3:30 - 4:30pm in the library. 

 

Revised Schedule for Volleyball Game on Thursday, October 13 - The Lady Bullets Volleyball team will travel to Springfield High School on Thursday, October 13, 2016 for a freshman, junior varsity, and varsity match with the Lady Senators. The following schedule will be used for the matches that evening:

·         5:00 pm: Varsity

·         6:00 pm: Junior Varsity

·         7:00 pm: Freshman

 

 

Community Service/Volunteer Info:

Healthy Kids Running Series at Williamsville Park is still accepting volunteers for their 5-week program. Volunteers can work any or all of the 5 weeks. The program is on Sundays starting 3:45PM with family friendly yoga and zumba and then the races kick-off at 4:30PM. This is a great opportunity for high school students looking for service hours. Please see Mrs. Chladny if interested. 

 

Memorial Medical Center is looking for volunteers for the annual Be Aware Women's Fair on Saturday, Oct 8 at the fairgrounds. Volunteers will work two-hour shifts. Volunteer forms are available in guidance or by visiting www.BeAwareWomensFair.com. Forms need to be completed by September 21

 

Parent/Teacher Conferences – Online Math Content Volunteers - For anyone needing community service hours, the elementary school, middle school, and junior high school are each looking for volunteers for during Parent/Teacher Conferences to work in their computer labs to help parents gain access to their children’s online math content.  Two volunteers are being sought for each of the shifts, which include:  Wednesday, November 9 – 12:30-3:30 p.m.; Wednesday, November 9 – 3:30-6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, November 9 – 6:30-8:00 p.m.; and Thursday, November 10 – 8:30-10:00 a.m.  There will also be a short training you will need to attend at the Williamsville Junior High School prior to the conferences.  Details for that training are yet to be determined.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.

 

Williamsville Middle School—Scholastic Book Fair - For anyone needing community service hours, Williamsville School is hosting their Scholastic Book Fair in conjunction with Parent-Teacher Conferences, and they need volunteers for various functions to work two- or three-hour shifts on the following dates:  Wednesday, November 3—3:00-5:00 p.m.; Wednesday, November 9—12:30-2:30 p.m., 2:30-4:30 p.m., 4:30-6:30 p.m. and 6:30-8:00 p.m.; and Friday, November 10—8:00-11:00 a.m. If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

 

Sherman Elementary School—Scholastic Book Fair - For anyone needing community service hours, Sherman Elementary School is hosting their Scholastic Book Fair in conjunction with Parent-Teacher Conferences, and they need volunteers for various functions to work two-hour shifts on the following dates:  Thursday, November 3—3:00-5:00 p.m.; Tuesday, November 8—5:00-7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, November 9—12:30-2:30 p.m., 2:30-4:30 p.m., 4:30-6:30 p.m. and 6:30-8:00 p.m.; and Thursday, November 10—8:00-10:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

 

Sherman Holiday Wonderland:  Volunteers are being sought to assist with the Sherman Holiday Wonderland, which will be hosted at the Sherman Athletic Club on Sunday, November 20, 2016.  Proceeds from the Sherman Holiday Wonderland are put toward the Sharon Miller Scholarship.  Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, November 20, 2016, helping vendors unload from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and working the Welcome Table from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., and additional volunteers are needed to help set up for the event.  Set up will be either Saturday evening or early Sunday morning, but that time has not yet been confirmed.

 

Williamsville Community Foundation — Quarter Auctions:  For anyone needing community service hours, the Williamsville Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with their Quarter Auctions to benefit different charities.  They need help on the second Wednesday of every month from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to set up chairs at the Williamsville Community Center, and then they will need help on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to work concessions during the auctions.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.

 

Lincoln Memorial Gardens — Indian Summer Festival:  For anyone needing community service hours, Lincoln Memorial Gardens is having their Indian Summer Festival on Saturday, October 8, 2016, and Sunday, October 9, 2016.  Volunteers will most likely be helping in the Children’s Area working with the crafts and games, and shifts are 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days.   If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

 

Capitol Radio Group — Zoolie Ghoulie at Henson Robinson Zoo:  For anyone needing community service hours, the Capitol Radio Group is sponsoring Zoolie Ghoulie at Henson Robinson Zoo from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016, and 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23, 2016.  Volunteers will be passing out candy in the safe trick-or-treating event inside the zoo gates or working in the carnival area.  Volunteers are also encouraged—but not required—to dress in costumes if they can.  If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

 

183rd Fighter Wing – Children’s Christmas Party - For anyone needing community service hours, the Airman and Family Readiness Program of the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield are looking for volunteers to assist with their Annual Children’s Christmas Party.  Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, December 11, 2016, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. helping with the children’s craft tables.  The event will take place at base of the 183rd Fighter Wing at 3101 J. David Jones Parkway in Springfield.
