Boys Basketball- There will be a Mandatory meeting Friday (9/9) during the last 10 minutes of each lunch in the BACK GYM for anyone interested in playing basketball this season. If you cannot make it, please see Coach Beard.

 

All interested parents are welcome to attend the Williamsville Vocal Music Boosters (WVMB) meeting on Monday, September 12th at 6:30 p.m. in the high school teachers’ lounge.  This meeting will follow the Madrigal parent meeting.  We hope to see you there!

 

Interested in the Pharmacy major?: The 6 schools of pharmacy in Illinois in addition to St. Louis College of Pharmacy are banding together to create awareness of careers in pharmacy on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Heartland Community College in Normal, IL. This is a free event. Registration and additional details can be found here: http://illinoispharmacy.wix.com/prepharmfair

 

 

Community Service/Volunteer Info:

 

Sherman Holiday Wonderland:  Volunteers are being sought to assist with the Sherman Holiday Wonderland, which will be hosted at the Sherman Athletic Club on Sunday, November 20, 2016.  Proceeds from the Sherman Holiday Wonderland are put toward the Sharon Miller Scholarship.  Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, November 20, 2016, helping vendors unload from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and working the Welcome Table from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., and additional volunteers are needed to help set up for the event.  Set up will be either Saturday evening or early Sunday morning, but that time has not yet been confirmed.

 

Williamsville Community Foundation — Quarter Auctions:  For anyone needing community service hours, the Williamsville Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to assist with their Quarter Auctions to benefit different charities.  They need help on the second Wednesday of every month from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to set up chairs at the Williamsville Community Center, and then they will need help on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to work concessions during the auctions.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.

 

Sports Care — Williamsville Challenge:  For anyone needing community service hours, Sports Care is sponsoring the Williamsville Challenge in conjunction with the Williamsville Fall Festival on Saturday, September 10, 2016.  Sports Care is looking for students who will help monitor each of the different events in the Williamsville Challenge for both the student (grades K-8) and adult (grades 9 and up).  Volunteers will be needed from approximately 12:45-3:00 p.m.  Volunteers will meet Paul Kircher at the pavilion next to the playground at the park in Williamsville.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.

 

Lincoln Memorial Gardens — Indian Summer Festival:  For anyone needing community service hours, Lincoln Memorial Gardens is having their Indian Summer Festival on Saturday, October 8, 2016, and Sunday, October 9, 2016.  Volunteers will most likely be helping in the Children’s Area working with the crafts and games, and shifts are 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days.   If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

 

Capitol Radio Group — Zoolie Ghoulie at Henson Robinson Zoo:  For anyone needing community service hours, the Capitol Radio Group is sponsoring Zoolie Ghoulie at Henson Robinson Zoo from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016, and 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23, 2016.  Volunteers will be passing out candy in the safe trick-or-treating event inside the zoo gates or working in the carnival area.  Volunteers are also encouraged—but not required—to dress in costumes if they can.  If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

 

183rd Fighter Wing – Family Day: For anyone needing community service hours, the Airman and Family Readiness Program of the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield is looking for volunteers to assist with their Annual Family Day.  Volunteers will be needed on Saturday, September 10, 2016, from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. helping with various resource tables, food services, and contests.  They will also need help setting up from 8:00-11:00 a.m. and cleaning up from 4:00-5:00 p.m.  The event will take place at the Department of Natural Resources’ Conservation World located on the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.  If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

 

Williamsville Community Foundation — Williamsville Fall Festival - For anyone needing community service hours, the Williamsville Community Foundation is sponsoring the Williamsville Fall Festival on Saturday, September 10, 2016.  They are looking for volunteers to help set up tents and unload vendors.  Volunteers will be needed from approximately 6:45-8:30 a.m.  They are also looking for about five volunteers to work various two-hours shifts throughout the event from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.

 

183rd Fighter Wing – Children’s Christmas Party - For anyone needing community service hours, the Airman and Family Readiness Program of the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield are looking for volunteers to assist with their Annual Children’s Christmas Party.  Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, December 11, 2016, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. helping with the children’s craft tables.  The event will take place at base of the 183rd Fighter Wing at 3101 J. David Jones Parkway in Springfield.
