Lincoln Land Scholarship Applications Available: The Lincoln Land Community College Foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2016-2017 academic year. Students considering or planning to attend Lincoln Land Community College beginning in fall 2016 are encouraged to apply. Deadline to apply is March 1

Only one application form is needed to apply for all scholarships. More information, in addition to the online application, can be found at www.llccfoundation.org/scholarships.

 

Students, Please be aware that anyone with an outstanding balance on their library account over $5.00 will not be allowed to come to the library during resource. If you have an outstanding balance of $5.00 or more on your library account at the beginning of the second semester, you will not be allowed to use the library or check out books.  Special arrangements can be made for you with your teacher should you need the library for a particular project.  Books could be used in the library, but not taken out of the library.

 

The FCCLA/FFA Winter Formal will be held Saturday, February 27th from 8-11pm.  Tickets will be on sale the week prior to the dance for $5 a ticket.

 

High school senior open house at ITT Technical Institute will be held on Saturday January 23rd from 10am-1:00pm and February 20th from 10am-1:00pm. Instructors will be available to help answer student questions, students will tour the facilities, and complimentary refreshments will be provided. ITT would like to invite you and your parents to set an appointment to complete your FAFSA for your first year in college. Call 217-547-5700 the appointment is free of charge and there is no obligation to attend ITT courses. Appointments will be held at the White Oaks Mall on March 5th and 12th from 9am-12pm. Please have you taxes filed with the IRS 3 weeks prior to the date you come in, for easy access to this information on the IRS website.

Softball Meeting – there will be a short meeting for all girls planning to try-out for High School softball on Tuesday, Jan. 26 after school in the cafeteria

 

Lincoln Land Community College's Capital City Training Center is offering three Healthcare Career Training Programs this semester. The goal of the program is to ensure workforce development and decrease unemployment in the community. The three programs include: Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, and Veterinary Assistant. A free information session will be held on January 6th and payment plan options are available through LLCC. classes are held in the evening from 6:00-9:00pm. Pharmacy Technician classes start January 25th, Vet Assistant classes start February 1, and Phlebotomy classes start February 1)

 

Memorial's Teens Experiencing Nursing (TEN) summer camp will be held from July 14-17. TEN camp gives students the opportunity to personally experience nursing education and nursing practice, helping them pursue a rewarding and essential career. During camp, students receive hands-on learning about the nursing profession, observing and working with professional nurses in departments throughout Memorial, including maternity, dialysis, emergency, intensive care and the Regional Burn Center. The four-day camp also includes a trip to MacMurray College in Jacksonville, where campers will work in simulated nursing classes and skills labs. Deadline to apply is April 4 and only 30 participants will be selected so apply early! There is no charge to participate. The Rotary Club of Springfield, Sunrise and WUIS are again partnering to sponsor the "This I Believe" essay contest. High school seniors can submit an essay (about 3-4 minutes in length when read out loud) expressing a personal belief. Ten students will be chosen to read their essays on the air and each will receive a $100 scholarship. Deadline for submission is January 28, 2016. Boys Track:  Any boy who wants to participate in track and field this spring and was unable to attend Wednesday's parent-athlete meeting needs to see Coach Patrick about the information that was handed out.
