Wednesday, January 6:

 

Lunch:  Breaded chicken sandwich or Spicy chicken sandwich, sweet potato fries, warm cinnamon apples, pineapple chunks, ½ pint of milk

 

Students, you are to report to the gym when you arrive at school each morning.  You can go to your lockers when the first bell rings at 8:12 am.  This does not mean sit on the benches or stand in the hallway. The only exceptions are students going to see teachers.  Also, no food or drink is allowed in the building.

Thursday, January 7:

 

Lunch:  Taco quesadillas or Toasted cheese sandwich, homemade chili, mini saltine crackers, baby carrots, applesauce, juice cup, ½ pint of milk

 

5:00pm - Scholastic Bowl @ New Berlin High School (+ JV) – Bus leaves 4:05pm

 

6:00pm - Wrestling @ Carlinville/QND @ Carlinville – Bus leaves 3:00pm – Please dismiss 2:50pm

 

6:00pm - Freshman Basketball vs New Berlin High School

 

6:00pm - FAFSA Completion Event

 

Friday, January 8:

 

Lunch:  Pizza – variety, creamy coleslaw, buttered corn, fresh fruit, fresh baked cookie, ½ pint of milk

 

The next National ACT date is February 6, registration deadline is this Friday, January 8. Students can register at www.actstudent.org

 

Final call: Registration is still open for students wanting to sign up for ACT Prep classes at WHS. Registration will close on Friday. Forms are available in the guidance office and the cost is $70.

General Announcements:

 

Class Dues are collected every year by class sponsors in lieu of fundraisers.  Money collected is used to pay for the Junior Class Prom and the Senior Trip.  It is not collected in registration and should be paid directly to a class sponsor. 

·         Freshmen –Pay $20 dues to Mr. Beard, Mr. Martens, Mrs. Whitten, or Mrs. Beard

·         Sophomores – Pay $20 dues to Mrs. Walsh

·         Juniors – Pay $20 dues to Mrs. Sturgeon

Youth & Government: All revisions for Bills, Briefs, Lobbyist Position Papers, and LA Forum Proposals are due Tuesday, 1/12 (via Google Docs). Ms. Faloon-Sullivan will be here after school on Monday until 6:30 p.m. if anyone needs help making revisions. 

 

Everyone’s Invited - Bowling Party @ King Pin – Sunday, January 17 – 9:00pm – 11pm – Unlimited bowling, $15 – Martin Luther King Weekend – No school on Monday!  Mark your calendars and make plans to attend.  Concessions available, Sponsored by After Prom.

 

Boys who will be participating in track - We'll begin 'Fun Runs' next Tuesday, Jan. 12th.  These are a way to help you get ready for the upcoming track season if you are not currently doing basketball or football/soccer training.  Dress warm since we'll be outside for most of the time.  These are for sprinters, distance runners, or throwers.    Fun Runs will be every Tuesday and Thursday until track begins on Feb. 8th.  We'll meet by the cafeteria after school and will be done no later than 4:30pm.

Lincoln Land Scholarship Applications Available: The Lincoln Land Community College Foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2016-2017 academic year. Students considering or planning to attend Lincoln Land Community College beginning in fall 2016 are encouraged to apply. Deadline to apply is March 1
