Come support WHS Youth & Government by having lunch this Saturday, at County Market in Sherman! We will be hosting the cookout from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and will have pork sandwiches, hot dogs, nachos, and other goodies at reasonable prices! Join in the fall fun and have a quick and delicious lunch!

General Announcements:


Class Dues are collected every year by class sponsors in lieu of fundraisers.  Money collected is used to pay for the Junior Class Prom and the Senior Trip.  It is not collected in registration and should be paid directly to a class sponsor. 

·         Freshmen – Class of 2019 Class Dues – Pay $20 dues:  Mr. Beard, Mr. Martens, Mrs. Whitten, Mrs. Beard

·         Sophomores – Class of 2018 Class Dues – Pay $20 dues to:  Mrs. Walsh

·         Juniors – Class of 2017 Class Dues – Pay $20 dues to:  Mrs. Sturgeon


Attention Sophomores: Registration is open for the HOBY Leadership Summer Conference. Sophomores chosen to attend this conference will develop hands-on leadership activities, meet leaders within our state, and explore personal leadership skills. Interested students must exibit outstanding communication skills, strong decision-making skills, charismatic personality, and have participation and/or interest in community service. WHS will choose two HOBY Ambassadors from the students who apply. Please see Mrs. Chladny or Mrs. Damery if you would like to apply. Deadline to apply is November 13th


Community Service Opportunities




·         New! Sherman Elementary School is hosting their Scholastic Book Fair in conjunction with Parent-Teacher Conferences, and they need volunteers for various functions (set-up, baggers, poster puller, online ordering, customer helper, back-order volunteer, teacher wish list helper, and clean-up) to work two- or three-hour shifts on the following dates:  Sunday, November 13:00-5:00 p.m.; Wednesday, November 4—3:45-5:45 p.m. and 5:45-7:30 p.m.; Thursday, November 5—12:30-2:30 p.m., 2:30-4:30 p.m., 4:30-6:30 p.m. and 6:30-8:00 p.m.; and Friday, November 6—7:45-9:45 a.m., and 9:45-11:30 a.m.; and Sunday, November 83:00-5:00 p.m. If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

Pink Out for Cancer:  Williamsville will be covered in PINK on October 23, 2015 to celebrate Cancer Awareness Month.  Orders must be turned in by October 13 to your school's representative.  Survivor jerseys must be ordered by this Thursday, October 8!  Please mail survivor forms to the address listed on the form.


Scholarship:  Apply now for the 2016 Prudential Spirit of the Community Award- cash prizes, win a trip to Washington D.C., and inspire others to volunteer in your community! Visit the guidance webpage for more details. Open to all students. Deadline to apply is Nov 3. 


Vocal Music Boosters and other community groups are looking at the possibility of producing a musical next summer at the new Sherman amphitheater.  A planning and informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 6:30 pm.  The meeting will be held at the Illini bank Community Center in Sherman.  Both parents and students are encouraged to attend if interested.  Questions email Deanna Mool at mool@sbcglobal.net
