The WJHS Beta Club has established a $250 scholarship fund for previous members. Applications include writing an essay on the impact participation in the WJHS Beta Club has had on your life and detailing your involvement in the club. See the guidance webpage for more details. Due April 24th

 

Ronald McDonald house charities of central Illinois is putting together a teen council program for Sangamon County. The purpose of this program is to encourage volunteerism and provide civic engagement opportunities. The council members will be between the ages of 15 and 18 who will meet monthly at the Ronald McDonald House. Applications are available in the guidance office. Two students from each local high school will be selected to join the council. Applications must be completed by August 5, 2015.

 

Vocal Music Booster Scholarship – The VMB will be offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior. Deadline to apply is April 21. Applications are available in the guidance office. 

 

Better Prep Success June ACT Test Prep Crash Course, Summer classes, and August Crash Course informational fliers are available in the guidance office. 

 

The University of Illinois Extension office would like to invite 8th-12th graders to participate in their Illini Summer Academies. This unique opportunity allows high school students to work alongside university professors and learn at the college campus. Imagine spending four days exploring many degree programs and studying a specific field of interest during 17 hours of interactive activities. Space is limited and costs vary depending on the program participants choose to enroll in. Sherman United Methodist Kids Place would like to update their sitter list for parents.  This list is distributed to Kids Place parents and other community members who ask about reliable sitters in the area.  If you would like to add your name to the list, please email kpattendance@yahoo.com  with the following info:  name, # to reach you, grade in school or age.  If you have submitted your name before, please do so again so that we know that you still wish to be listed.  If you have any questions, please contact Carmen Arnberger, director, at 496-2338 ext. 8.

 

Seniors:  If you didn’t pick up your graduation order at lunch on Wednesday, it is in the office.  Orders with a monetary balance can be paid with cash or money order.  Checks are not accepted.  If you prefer to pay with credit or debit, call Jostens at 217-483-8989.

 

 

There will be an informational cheerleading meeting on Friday, April 24 at 3:30 pm in the high school cafeteria.  Any incoming freshman or current high school girl or boy is encouraged to attend to have any questions answered about the upcoming season and tryouts. There are several changes this year and anyone interested in cheerleading for football or basketball should attend the meeting; if you are unable to attend please feel free to contact Coach Schneider at aindreanoel1288@yahoo.com.
