Tuesday, November 25:

 

Lunch: Southwest pizza or Cheese quesadilla, buttered peas, diced pears, juice cup, Cookie Crisp, pint of milk

 

IHSA State Championship Football tickets for U of Is Memorial Stadium will be sold as follows:

      WHS Students - at lunch today

      General Public - 4-6 pm in the WHS Library

Price per general admission ticket is $10 each. Checks can be made to WHS.

 

S.A.V.E. Club will be meeting Monday and Tuesday before and after school to make posters for the upcoming movie night. Come join us!!!

 

Band Students: Our fall fundraiser (cookie dough/gift catalog) will be delivered this Tuesday just in time for the holiday. High school students need to come pick up items right after school in the band room

 

Madrigals & Jazz Band at Memorial's Festival of Trees at the Orr Building at the State Fairgrounds.  The WHS Madrigals will be performing at 5 PM and the WHS Jazz Band will follow at 6 PM. This is a great venue and the groups are sounding great! This is an event for a great cause and the kids would love to see you all there!

SPARC is looking for volunteers to help at The Design Ideas Holiday Outlet Store. This is an excellent volunteer opportunity. Students can work after school-7pm or on the weekends. Please stop by guidance or contact Denise Schainker at dschainker@spfldsparc.org or 793-2100 ext 145. 

 

A local farm with horses is looking for paid help-possible two positions open. Job duties would include cleaning horse stalls and weed eating in the summer. The position is on an as needed basis and more hours would come in the summer. Please stop by guidance if you are interested. 

 

The Think Center is offering a FREE program, Monday, November 24 from 8-9pm called, "Pathway to the NCAA".  Parents of 6th-12th graders are welcome to attend.  For more information or questions, call 217-960-0095 or go to their website @ www.think-center.com.

 

Students 9th-12th grade with an interest in the field of medicine have a chance to be nominated to attend the upcoming National Youth Leadership Forum: Medicine.  Students who have demonstrated leadership potential have a chance to be nominated.  If you are interested, please make an appointment to see Mrs. Chladny in the Guidance office.  Deadline is December 1st.  (Nominations are limited to 10 students.)

 

The Writers' Reading Club will meet Thursday, Dec. 11 to discuss the story "The Coyote Howls" by Mary C. Moore. The discussion will be in Dr. Morrissey's room, 215, and last from 3:25 to 4:00. 2nd Semester Schedule Changes:  Mrs. Chladny will be available Monday, December 1st through Friday, December 5th to make 2nd Semester schedule

 

After Prom Lottery winners for the third week in November are: Jacelyn Prince, Brenda Towers, Geri Keltner, Pete Summers, Derrell Lynch and Tammie Rue.  The 2015 After Prom Committee would again like to thank all of you who bought lottery tickets.

 

Commonwealth Honors Academy will be held at Murray State University June 6-June 27, 2015Qualifying Juniors must have a composite ACT of approximately 25, and a 3.5 GPA on the 4.0 scale.  Other credentials considered are community involvement, class rank, and teacher recommendations.  Deadline to apply is March 1, 2015.  See Mrs. Chladny for more information or contact Lori Rogers at lrogers@murraystate.edu or cavll 270-809-3166.
