Reminder: Important Y&G meeting this Wednesday, 10/29 from 6-7 p.m. ALL members need to be present to discuss plans for Pre-Leg I, which is coming up on Friday, Nov. 7 from 5-9 p.m. We will use the redb20141029ing time to work on Non-candidate interview stories (Press) and Bills/Briefs (Legislators, Lobbyists, and LAs).

Playoff Shirts will be passed out during lunch on Thursday

 

The Writers' Reading Club will meet Thursday, Oct. 30, in Dr. Morrissey's room (215) from 3:25 to 4:00 to discuss the ghost story "The Lilies" by Alison Prince, which is available outside of Dr. Morrissey's room. A writing prompt based on the story is also available. See Dr. Morrissey or Mrs. Flammini if you have questions.

Parent-Teacher Conferences: WHS is once again using Sign-Up Genius for parents to reserve Parent-Teacher Conferences with each of their student’s teachers.  Ten minute slots are available on the following days:

·                     November 6th:  12:30-3:30 PM, 4:00-8:00 PM

·                     November 7th : 8:00 – 11:00 AM

Boys Basketball:  There will be a MANDATORY Parent-Athlete meeting on Monday November 3rd for anyone interested in trying out for boys basketball at 6:30 in the high school gym.  Please make sure at least one parent attends the meeting.  Boys Basketball tryouts begin November 10th.

Coats Found:  Two coats were found at the Porta football field.  Please call Porta High School to claim, 217-632-3216.

 

As part of the Red Ribbon Week celebration, S.A.V.E. Club is going to have a writing contest for all students at the high school. It is really easy. All you have to do is write any type of poem on the theme for the week which is " Love Yourself, Live Drug Free." Submit the poem to Mrs. Lorton by Wednesday, November 12. S.A.V.E. Club members will pick the winning poem and all poems will be displayed in the school.
