The first meeting of the Writers' Reading Club will be Thursday, Sept. 25 in Dr. Morrissey's room (215) beginning at 3:25. We'll discuss the story "The Story of an Hour," which is available outside room 215. We'll also discuss plans for the literary magazine and other creative writing projects. The meeting and discussion will last until about 4:00.  See Dr. Morrissey or Mrs. Flammini if you have questions.

Lincoln Community High School's Annual College Night will be held October 16 from 6:00pm-7:30pm. This event is open to all high school students and their parents. The evening begins with a financial aid presentation followed by a college fair featuring over 35 college representatives and military recruiters.


2014 Actuarial Career Fairs: Enjoy math? Like a challenge? If so, you have what it takes to be an actuary, a well-paid professional who uses math skills to solve business and social problems. Attend a career fair organized by the Actuarial Program at Illinois State University. Open to both high school and college students. Any questions? Big Brothers Big Sisters high school mentoring program is looking for volunteers:  Mentors meet with their little sister or brother for just one hour, once per week at the little’s school.  Please see Kaylee Nichols for more information.

2014 WHS Homecoming Parade will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2014.  Parade step-off time will be 6:00pm.  Line up will start at 5:00pm.  Floats, cheerleaders, court and JFL and other teams with transportation will line up in the Student Lot(south end lot) and band, girls scouts/boy scouts, walkers, Grand Marshall will line up in the Teacher's lot(north end).  Please call or email Vicki Karras(654-1184 or composerkids@msn.com) to sign up your group and receive more information.  Please sign up by Monday September 29.  Go Bullets!!  Thanks to Sports Boosters for organizing this great event!

Homecoming Dance  Tickets will be on sale September 29-October 2 at lunch.  The cost is $10 per person.  If you forget to buy a ticket on those days, tickets will be sold on Friday, October 3 from Mrs Walsh, the cost is $20 per person.  Tickets can be purchased at the dance for $25 per person.


The Homecoming dance will take place on Saturday, October 4 in the back gym.  Doors will open at 8:00 p.m.

Yesterday’s Boys Golf Scores:  Williamsville-164 individual scores Eric Gray-38, Eli Reevis-39, Austin Tuttle-40, Josh Gray-47, Jake Eilts-51, Coltin Saladino-49.  Record for WHS is 8-8.  Lost to Illini Central 157, Auburn 153, and won against N. Mac 180


Also on Saturday, WHS Boys golf team placed 5th out of 10 teams in Havana

Volunteer Opportunities –

Capitol Radio Group—Zoolie Ghoulie at Henson Robinson Zoo

For anyone needing community service hours, the Capitol Radio Group is sponsoring Zoolie Ghoulie at Henson Robinson Zoo from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18 and 25, 2014, and Sunday, October 19 and 26, 2014.  Volunteers will be passing out candy in the safe trick-or-treating event inside the zoo gates or working in the carnival area.  Volunteers are also encouraged—but not required—to dress in costumes if they can.  If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.


Mrs. Walsh desperately needs someone to tape boys' golf at The Rail!  There are two home meets left.


Parent-Teacher Conferences:

WHS is once again using Sign-Up Genius for parents to reserve Parent-Teacher Conferences with each of their student’s teachers.  Ten minute slots are available on the following days:


·         November 6th:  12:30-3:30 PM, 4:00-8:00 PM

·         November 7th : 8:00 – 11:00 AM
