Volunteer Opportunities Available

Williamsville Fall Festival are looking for volunteers to man the watering station for the Williamsville Fall Festival 5K on Saturday, September 6, 2014. If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

 

Williamsville Fall Festival "Kids zone" are looking for Volunteers to help run games and crafts from 9am to 5pm this Saturday the 6th. If interested please contact Melissa Hibbs-Edwards by Thursday to sign up for a time 217-899-8500 or hopetyler2013@gmail.com

SportsCare is sponsoring the Women’s Biathlon on Sunday, September 21, 2014SportsCare is looking for volunteer students who will help with the parking for the event, monitoring the course, working drink stations, etc.  Volunteers will need to report for a volunteer meeting starting at 7:00 a.m. on the morning of the event inside Memorial SportsCare inside Kerasotes YMCA at 4550 W. Iles Ave. in Springfield, and bring the completed Volunteer Consent Form with you on the morning of the event.  Please see Mr. Martens if you are interested or have any other questions.

Attention Juniors: Sign up to take the PSAT in the guidance office. The cost is $15. The test will be given at WHS on October 15th. Limited tests available so register early. Deadline to sign up is September 22nd. See Mrs. Chladny with questions.

 

The Williamsville Vocal Music Boosters will meet Monday, September 8th at 6:30 p.m. in the high school teachers’ lounge.  All choral parents are welcome to attend.

 

The Williamsville Band Boosters is excited to support our bands for the 2014-2015 school year!  We will have our first meeting on Tuesday, September 16 at 6:30 PM in the WHS band room. All band parents are encouraged to attend.

 

Acorn Equality Fund: is a grassroots organization that provides academic scholarships for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) persons and their children in Illinois’ downstate counties. 2015 scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000. Prudential Spirit of the Community Awards: If you have made a difference through volunteering over the past year, you could win $1,000 and a fabulous trip to Washington D.C. next May. S.A.V.E. Club members interested in planning and attending the Box City event must attend a mandatory meeting Wednesday, September 10 after school in Mrs. Lorton's room.

 

S.A.V.E. Club members or those that would like to join but haven't been to see Mrs. Lorton yet:  Mrs. Lorton will be taking S.A.V.E. Club shirt orders this week. The cost is $12.00. Please bring your money and shirt size to Mrs. Lorton. The last day to order will be Tuesday of next week.

 

Any Junior or Senior student who currently holds an office such as Student Council, Class Officer, or other civic or educational organization who is interested in the United States Senate Youth Program Scholarship, please see Mrs. Damery or Ms. Faloon-Sullivan for an application. Application deadline, which includes an essay, is Oct. 3, 2014.

 

Youth and Government meeting Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. in Ms. Faloon-Sullivan's room. Especially important for legislators, because we will be doing Bill Title forms! 

 

Youth and Government students: Please turn in registration forms and first payment by Friday, September 12. Links are on Ms. Faloon-Sullivan's webpage. If you need more time to make the payment, that is ok, but forms MUST be completed.
