Orlene Drobisch Moore scholarship applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline to apply is April 25, 2014. This is a local scholarship open only to WHS graduates.

 

The Family Service Center will be awarding college scholarships to children graduating from high school who have been adopted or are formerly/currently placed in foster care. More information and applications can be found online at: www.service2families.org. The deadline is April 29th.

Memorial Student Volunteer Program: Open to qualified high school juniors through college age students interested in health care careers. Participation is limited, deadline to apply is April 30. Interested students can pick up a packet in the guidance office or by contacting Elaine Kerhlikar at Kerhlikar.Elaine@mhsil.com

 

WHS Sports Boosters Outstanding Sportsmanship Scholarship is now open to senior athletes, cheerleaders, and student managers. Applicants must have a letter of recommendation from his or her coach. One award will be given to senior male athlete and one senior girl athlete worth $500. Award is not based on athletic ability. Applications are in the guidance office and must be submitted by April 11th

 

The Sherman United Methodist Church after school program is hosting an event Friday April 25th at 4pm at the Sherman Elementary School track and is seeking student volunteers. Kids participating have trained for a 5k run/walk and one mile fun run/walk. Volunteers are needed to help with face paint, taking times and handing out medals, plus, working the water and snack tables. Congratulations to the Jazz Band - The Jazz Band earned 1st place and received one of the highest scores of the day (regardless of class) at the State of Illinois Jazz Invitational held at ISU on Friday. We are proud of your continued success!

 

Youth and Government students: Please see Edmodo or Ms. Faloon-Sullivan's webpage for a link to photos from the assembly. She can email you high-resolution files suitable for printing. Also, anyone who is interested in participating in the Village Board meeting on April 28 at 6:30 p.m., please reply to her Edmodo message. It will probably only take about an hour, and it is a fun way to practice parliamentary procedure and see how decisions are made at the local level.

 

Love Your Self(ie): An event to help boost self-esteem for high school age girls on April 18 from 6pm-8pm on the University of Springfield campus. There will be snacks, activities, and group discussion. Hosted by master level counseling students from UIS. Girls can sign up by texting Megan (counseling intern at WHS) at 618-322-4603.
