Girls Track Practice 3:30-5 today. Unless it is raining, please be prepared to run outside. Meet in the cafeteria at 3:30.

Saturday, February 22:

 

Sports Booster Dinner Dance - The annual dinner/dance will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Poes on the Hill. Dinner (prime rib or roasted chicken) will begin at 7:00 pm with music from 8:00-11:00 pm. A $2500 grand prize as well as other cash prizes will be drawn throughout the evening. Tickets are $65 per person or $500 for a table of 8. Please contact Debbie Price at 414-1330 to reserve your tickets.

Congratulations to the Varsity Scholastic Bowl team for winning at Masonic Sectionals and qualifying for Masonic State on March 1. Great job!

 

Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) is an international program, headquartered at the University of Illinois, offering the annual Academic Challenge competition, a summer camp and other programs. 

 

WHS finished with 465 points to finish behind 1st place Plains with 466 points to advance as a team to sectionals to be held March 4th at Illinois College. Individuals earning medals include:

 

·         Marty Pesch: 1st place in Chemistry and Math

·         Nino Giganti: 2nd place in Chemistry and Math

·         Jacob Beal: 2nd place in Chemistry

·         Tyler Nichols: 3rd place in Chemistry

·         Jared Cordum: 1st Place Computer Science.

 

IL Sheriffs Association is will award 105 scholarships to permanent residents of Illinois. Applicants will write an essay on prevention of school violence. Print an application at http://www.ilsheriff.org/index.php/scholarships/63 The deadline is March 15th.

 

WHS presents Mardi Gras “Get Jazzed About Books” Book Fair at Barnes & Noble:  Join us on Sunday, March 2, for special performances by the WHS Vocal Jazz and WHS Choir Ensembles.  Raffles, crafts, King Cake Frappuccino, and much more!  See the Library website for more information!
