General Announcements:


 

Attention Junior Parents:  Calendar money and ticket stubs are now due!  Even if you didn’t sell them, please return them to a class officer this week!

 

Boys Basketball:  There will be a mandatory parent-athlete meeting on Monday, November 4th at 6:30 pm in the high school gym for any boys interested in trying out for boys basketball this year.  Tryouts will be held November 11 and 12 for all boys not currently involved in a sport.

 

Baseball:  There will be a mandatory meeting for all guys interested in going out for baseball this year on Friday right after school in the cafeteria. 

 

SAVE Club is celebrating Red Ribbon Week. Schools across America are celebrating the choice to be Drug Free. We are also encouraging everyone to take a stand against bullying.

 

•   On Wednesday, dress in red to show we stand as one against drugs and violence.

 

•   On Thursday, SAVE Club invites you to join us for a movie and pizza right after school.

 

Plato & Flora S. McCourtney Foundation Scholarship applications are available in the guidance office. Preference will be given to students seeking a technical or scientific education. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years. Deadline to apply is March 31, 2014.

 

For anyone needing community service hours, Sherman Elementary School is hosting their Scholastic Book Fair in conjunction with Parent-Teacher Conferences, and they need volunteers to work two- or three-hour shifts on the following dates: Sunday, November 3—2:00-5:00 p.m.; Wednesday, November 6—4:00-7:00 p.m.; Thursday, November 7—12:00-2:00 p.m., 2:00-4:00 p.m., 4:00-6:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m.; and Friday, November 9—8:00-10:00 a.m., and 10:00 a.m.-12:00 (noon). If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

Congratulations to Marty Pesch for tying for 11th place at the State golf tournament in Bloomington this weekend.  Marty shot a 75 on Friday and 79 on Saturday against 112 golfers. Great Job Marty at the State Golf Tournament!

The second annual No Butts Left Behind Diaper drive will be next week October 28th through November 1st.  The FCCLA is challenging 4th hours to bring in the most diapers per student to help the Mini O' Beirne Crisis Nursery.  All sizes of diapers are needed as well as baby wipes, liquid lysol, winter clothes, and other baby needs.  The winning class will receive a donut extravaganza party:)  So bring in those diapers for a great cause!

 

Order your football playoff shirts NOW! Money and forms can be turned into Coach Kershaw at WHS or Coach Compardo at WJHS or Coach Peters at Sherman Elementary no later than October 23. Delivery will be in the high school cafeteria October 30, 2013 from 6:00–7:30pm. Shirts for Sherman Elementary students will be handed out at Sherman Elementary.
