Join SAVE and Student Council for a Water Balloon Bash after school Friday. Come pick up a participation form and return it with your cash. We will do the rest. $5.00 for a bag of water balloons. There will also be extra water balloons at the event for free.

2013-2014 yearbooks will be on sale during both lunch shifts on Thursday, Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. The cost for the yearbook is $55, and checks can be made out to WHS. For those students who purchase the yearbook during this in-school sale, they will receive their name embossed on the cover for free. Students who do not purchase a yearbook during this in-school sale will have the opportunity to purchase the books directly from the publisher, Jostens. Jostens will be sending ordering instructions in the mail. Just as a reminder to parents, yearbooks can only be purchased during this in-school sale and from Jostens. No fees are collected during registration for yearbooks.
Open gyms for girls basketball this year will start Monday Sept. 23. Open gyms will be Monday, Tues. and Thursdays after school until 4:45. You must have an up to date physical and insurance waiver on file before you can participate

The WHS Boys' Golf Team finished third in the Sangamo Conference Tourney Saturday at Bunn Golf Course. Marty Pesch received the third place medal, shooting 77. Eric Gray contributed an 88, and Austin Tuttle shot 91 and Eli Reevis a 93.
Engineering Explorers Post 6 "First Nighter-Open House" September 18th from 6:00-7:30pm at IDOT Central Office-2300 South Dirksen Parkway. This open house will give students and parents the opportunity to ask questions and sign up for the Engineering Explorers Post. This program will give students hands on experience in the engineering field and spend time with engineers and technicians.
Interested in a career in medicine? Please see Mrs. Chladny if you would like to be nominated to attend Careers in Medicine, a National Youth Leadership Forum. This opportunity provides students with experiential exploration, self-discovery, and skill building opportunities. Nominated students will have the opportunity to select any one of the nine-day programs offered at cities across the U.S. Interested students must have demonstrated leadership potential. Deadline to apply for a nomination is September 20th.
LLCC will offer ACT Prep classes for all area students. The first session begins this Saturday (September 21), but they do still have openings! Check with the guidance department for more details.
