FCCLA meeting - Due to pending weather the FCCLA meeting for after school tonight will be postponed until next Tuesday, February 26th.


FFA Week:  Cowboy/Farmer Day


S.A.V.E. Club meeting this Thursday before and after school in Mrs. Lorton's room. We will have a speaker at the morning meeting.


Musical:  Due to inclement weather, rehearsals for the musical have been cancelled for tonight

No Scholastic Bowl practice tonight after school. Practice tomorrow 3:30.

General Announcements:


The American Cancer Society is offering their Annual Summer High School Research Program. This hands-on cancer research program is designed for current juniors who have an interest in medicine and science. Program deadline is March 13, please see the Guidance Office for more details.


MidAmerica Credit Union is offering 3-$1000 scholarships to any graduating high school senior attending college. All other requirements are on the application which is available at www.1stMidAmerica.org. Deadline is March 30, 2013.


Seniors: Any seniors submitting the SKELTON Scholarship applications need to have those turned in to the Guidance Office by Monday, February 25th.


The Springfield Noon Lions Club is pleased to announce the availability of their 2013 Scholarship. Applicants should be seniors who are interested in pursuing an education in a health care field, with the highest consideration being given to those focusing on sight and hearing oriented fields. Congrats to Jazz Band on their performance at the WIU Jazz Festival!  The Jazz Band won 1st place and Grand Champion in the small schools division.  Congrats also to the Outstanding Soloists:  Dan Heidorn, Alex Lang, Jacob Hardy, and Tucker Hirsch!


The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) invites you to “ISAC, Your Family, and Education: Start the conversation about college today.” This event will take place on Saturday, February 23rd from 9am-noon at University of Illinois Springfield. Parents will learn the process that their student will go through as they prepare for and enter college and where to turn if they have questions or need assistance. They will also learn from other parents that have gone through the process what challenges that they faced in their journey with their student. Congratulations to the Scholastic Bowl team, winning second place at Saturday's Masonic Sectionals -- its only loss of the entire day coming in the championship round. Great job!


Congrats to the boys basketball team on their win last night over PORTA which advances them to the Regional Championship!


The YMCA and the Junior League of Springfield are hosting a pre-prom event called Prom it Forward on 03/23/2013 from 4-7pm at the Downtown YMCA, Springfield, IL. They are accepting gently used prom dresses and accessories. At the event, there will be free formal gowns given away to teens in need. There will be door prizes and prom vendors at the event as well.
