Capital Area Education Fair - Students should report to 1st hour for attendance and will be dismissed by intercom at approximately 8:30am to leave for the Capitol Area Education Fair. We will return at approximately 11:15am.

All S.A.V.E. Club members please meet in the student parking lot to decorate the "float" and participate in the parade. Be there by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3.


All students must move your cars from the Student Lot immediately after school to prepare for the Homecoming Parade.

Friday, October 5:


No School – Teachers Inservice


WDBR will broadcast live from WHS from 5:30pm to 7:00pm this Friday night before our football game with the Athens Warriors. They will supply rally towels before the game and the Paul Mitchell girls will be here to paint your hair. Come out early this Friday night and tailgate with WDBR and help root the 6-0 Bullets to a homecoming victory.


7:00pm - Varsity Football vs Athens High School – Homecoming Game


Girl Scout Soup Drive for Kumler Outreach Ministries – bring cans of soup to the game between 6:30-7:30 pm.


Saturday, October 6:


10:00 AM - Cross Country @ Liberty High School – Bus leaves 6:45 AM

General Announcements:


Dance is Saturday, October 6, 8-11 pm, Tickets are $10 per person and will be on sale Monday-Thursday of Homecoming Week.  At the door, tickets will be $25 per person.  Semi formal dress--no jeans or tennis shoes please. Collared shirts for boys, dresses for girls.  A professional photographer will not be available at the dance for pictures.


Varsity Scholastic Bowl tryouts and a short team meeting. Monday and Thursday in the library at 3:30 p.m. You do not need to attend both dates. Please see Mrs. Letterly if neither of these dates will work or if you have questions.   The varsity team will be posted by Friday, October 5. If you will be ordering a team shirt (required for all new players), payment will be due Monday, October 8.


Juniors: The PSAT will be administered on October 17th in the high school cafeteria beginning at 8:20a.m. The PSAT is an optional test for juniors and measures critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills. Limited tests are available so register early. Sign up in the guidance office. The cost is $15.


Reminder: Mandatory tutor training for students planning to be a peer tutor this year will meet on October 9th from 3:20-4pm in the WHS cafeteria. Please see Mrs. Chladny if you have any questions.


Homecoming updos for $30 done by a licensed cosmologist. Appointments available all day Sat Oct. 6th! Call Melissa Hibbs-Edwards at 899-8500 for more details and to set your appointment. ANYONE WHO HAS A FRIEND CALL TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AND SAYS YOU SENT THEM I WILL GIVE YOU YOUR UPDO FOR $25.

For anyone needing community service hours, the Sherman Elementary School PTO is hosting their annual Fall Festival, and they need volunteers to oversee games, take ticket money, etc. The Fall Festival will be on Saturday, October 13, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. They have two shifts for which they need student volunteers with the first one from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and the second from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.


WHS is looking for an outstanding sophomore to represent our high school at the 2013 Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar. Each year HOBY empowers 9,000 high school students to excel as leaders and innovators. Sophomores who are interested in advancing their leadership skills should see a guidance counselor to apply for this competitive opportunity.


All guys interested in going out for baseball need to fill out the information on the form outside of Coach Chladny's door by the end of next week.


Football playoff shirts are available in the office.  Order forms with payment are due by October 11 to Coach Kershaw.


Paint the field pink shirts - Student Council will be taking orders for the Sports Boosters Paint the Field pink shirts Wednesday and Thursday at lunch.  Size samples for the ladies shirts will be available.  The order form is attached to the bulletin.

In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Williamsville and Auburn schools are teaming up to Defeat Cancer! We will Paint the Field PINK at the game on October 19, 2012.  Both pink t-shirts and a ladies pink fitted shirt are available for $13 each.  Pink football jerseys (also $13) with the same design will be available for all survivors.  If you are a survivor, please provide your name and indicate the size of jersey you would like.  Please also indicate if you would like to be recognized at the game.



To order, please fill out this form and return with payment to school no later than 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 4. Shirts will be delivered to your selected location on Wednesday, October 17.  Please make checks payable to:  WHS Sports Boosters.  All shirts are $13 each with all profits donated to cancer research.  Questions?
