General Announcements:

 

Interested in a career in health care? If so, you are invited to attend a "First Nighter" on Monday, September 24 at 6pm at Memorial Medical Center. The cost to register for the program is $15 and will give explorers the chance to interact with health care professionals and see the miracles of modern medicine up close. If you chose to join you will get tons of hands-on experience, meet new friends and build your resume for college. Stop by the guidance office for more details.

 

The Yearbook class will be taking orders for the 2012-2013 yearbook during both lunch shifts on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. Students who purchase their yearbooks during this presale will have their names embossed on the cover free of charge. The cost of the book is $55. Checks should be made out to WHS. Students who do not purchase during this presale will have the opportunity to purchase their books directly from Jostens. Jostens will send ordering instructions directly to the students' homes beginning in October. If you have questions, see Mr. Gudwien.

 

Glenwood High School would like to invite all WHS students to their annual snowball on Saturday Nov 3rd from 7 am - 10:30 pm. If you would like to participate as a staff member, applications are due October 5th and there will be a mandatory Staff Training October 21st from 1-3 p.m. at GHS. All other participants should complete forms by October 12th.

 

Feeling Stressed?? Coming soon, Yoga and Relaxation group. The group is open to all students and will meet after school on Thursday for 30 minutes beginning October 25th. Sign up if you are interested. Space is limited to sign up early. More details will be coming. Any questions, please see Mrs. Chladny.

Actuarial Career Fairs: Do you enjoy math and like to be challenged? If so, you might have what it takes to be an actuary. Please see the guidance office or the flyer in the library if you are interested in attending an upcoming actuarial career fair to learn more about this potential career!

 

Seniors: Jostens will be back on Tuesday, 9/25, during lunch to collect graduation orders. $60 deposit is required with your order. Extra order packets are available in the office. If you have any questions, Jostens can be reached at 217-483-8989.

 

The Lady Bullets Volleyball team improved to 14-3 with a conference win over North Mac. The JV also won in 2 sets. The number 1 seeded Lady Bullets are hosting the Sangamon County this Saturday and Monday.

 

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO CURTIS CLARK for making a hole in one at the Rail on hole number 16. Way to go Curtis! He scored a 1, which helped his team defeat Auburn, North Mac, and Illini Central. The Bullets record is 15 and 7. Individual scores were Clark 3 under par 33, Marty Pesch-46, Eric Gray-47 and Ben Bradley-45. Next match is today at the Rail against Riverton, Pittsfield, And Hartem.
