Student Council is sponsoring a Shoe Drive.  Please bring any gently worn shoes to your first hour class.  The class who has the highest average of pairs of shoes per student will win breakfast in class.  Please see the fliers in your classes for more details.


Monday, October 31:


Lunch:  Chicken nuggets, fresh-baked biscuit, mashed potato/gravy OR thin fries, seasoned green beans, rosy applesauce, ½ pint of milk


Boys Basketball – Turn in IHSA forms, concussion forms, and player contracts by the end of the day.


Seniors – Meeting with Jostens 8:40 AM to discuss graduation orders


Volleyball Players – Varsity players should get dressed and bring a pen & paper up to Mrs. Walsh’s room.  JV players should get the gym set-up for practice.


Tuesday, November 1:


Lunch:  Cheese breadsticks with marinara sauce or Cheese ravioli in marinara sauce, sweetened sliced carrots, diced pears, chocolate grahams, ½ pint of milk

Varsity Football Playoffs at Camp Point Central – 2:00 PM – Bus leaves 9:45 AM


IMEA District Festival at WIU in Macomb -- Bus leaves at 6am from behind the JH.  Senior High Band & Chorus Concert is at 4:30 pm in Western Hall.  Admission is $3/adult and $2/student.


General Announcements:


Win the chance to taste test and choose a new WHS school lunch item!  Just fill out the word scramble sheet Sweet Potato Scramble in the school library.  The sheets will be there all of this week.  Ten WHS students will be drawn from all the sheets that are correctly completed.  These students will then be invited to participate in a taste test at the end of their lunch period on Monday, November 7


Congratulations to the Cast, Crew, & Orchestra of "Back to the 80's" for their two "totally awesome" performances this weekend.  Also, thank you to everyone who came out and supported the kids for their efforts!


The cross country team completed their season at the Elmwood Sectional on Saturday.  The girls were led by Sandra Brzezicha.  Sandra was followed by Halston Fletcher, Emily Chesser, Abbi Penk and Sara Nilsson.  Noah Horton represented the boys and ran very well.


Students that attended the Regional championship volleyball game, check your tickets!  Winners of the $50 gift cards are ticket numbers:  237255 & 237293.  Prizes are in the office.  Please bring tickets in to claim prize.


Congratulations to the Varsity Football team on their win Friday night against Gillespie!  Football playoffs will continue on Saturday at 2:00 PM.


The Elite Conference is seeking area students who are interested in secondary education. This conference is held November 28th in Bloomington.


The National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine is accepting nominations from students interested in the medical field for their summer program.

The UIS  Visual Arts Program will host the 2011 UIS High School Art Exhibition in the Access Gallery from November 3 -17, 2011. This exhibition will be held as a showcase of area high school artwork. Artwork will be judged by category and prises will be given for Best of Show, Best in Category and Honorable Mention in category. Categories are determined by class year, therefore creating four categories.  UIS Visual Art Faculty and the members of the Art Student league will decide awards. A reception will take place in the Visual and Preforming Arts Building Access Gallery from 5:30 - 7:00 pm  on Thursday , November 10, 2011.  Congratulations to these students for being selected to display their art in the show:  Dan Heidorn, Robert Konzelmann, Russell Konzelmann, Amber Robbs, Brianna Skeels, Sephra Urbas, Tiffany Ushman
