Boys Basketball Parent-Athlete Meeting- October 25 at 6:30 in the Main Gym

 

Girls Basketball Parent-Athlete Meeting - There will be a mandatory parent-player meeting for those girls interested in trying out for girls basketball and their parents, held on Wednesday, October 26th at 6 pm in the library at Williamsville High School.

 

Girls basketball players that sized for basketball shoes need to bring in their money for their shoes before they can receive them.

 

Seniors:

  • Emory College is seeking applicants for scholarship nominations.  Eureka College wants to invite students to apply for the Ronald Reagan Leadership Program

 

  • The Elite Conference is seeking area students who are interested in secondary education. This conference is held November 28th in Bloomington.

 

  • The National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine is accepting nominations from students interested in the medical field for their summer program.

 

  • The Horatio Alger Scholarship is now available online at: www.horatioalger.com/scholarships Applications are due Oct 30th.

 

  • The AXA Achievement Community Scholarship is now available online at: www.axa-achievement.com Applications are due February 1st.

Next Week is Red Ribbon Week:- This annual event began as a response to drug violence that claimed the life of drug enforcement officer Enrique "Kiki" Camarena. Every time someone chooses to buy drugs or use drugs it indirectly supports this violence. Stop the violence and be drug free.

 

Monday- Be a Smartie. Be Drug Free.  Dress like a Nerd Day!

 

Tuesday-"Love Yourself and Come As You Are." Dress in Pajamas! The Art Club will paint a red heart on you at lunch today!

 

Wednesday- "Be the Hero Others Need to Stay Drug Free." Dress as an Everyday Hero or                     Superhero.

           

Thursday- “Don’t let drugs take away your future.” Dress in Futuristic Clothes or a Career Outfit.

 

Friday- "Imagine a Day Where No one Dies from Drugs. Black Out Drugs." - Wear Black

 

Sophomores: Join the premier youth leadership organziation in the country-HOBY Leadership Seminar. Interested students should have a desire to represent WHS, have participation in community service activities, & outstanding oral and/or written communication skills. To learn more about the HOBY experience visit www.hoby.org or stop by the guidance office. You must notify the guidance office if you would like to be nominated. Deadline for nominations is November 21st.

 

St. John's College Open House: To learn more about St. John's nursing program please attend on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 4-6pm. Reservations can be made by calling 525-5628. Please check the orange flyers in the guidance office for more details.

 

There is still time to order Butter Braids, frozen Cookie Dough, and Fannie May Candy! Please see a Youth and Government student or Ms. Faloon-Sullivan if you want to order.  A half-pound box of Fannie May is only $11, which is $3 less than the retail cost.
