General Announcements:

 

WHS Parent-Teacher Conferences – October 6th & 7th.  Appointments are being taken by calling the WHS Office, 566-3361.  When calling, please have the list handy of the teachers you would like to see.  Appointments will be made in ten minute increments on October 6th from 5:00-8:00 PM and on October 7th from 8:00-Noon, 1:00-4:00 PM.

Dress Up Days:

Seniors-black, Juniors-white, Sophomores-purple, Freshmen-gold

·         Bullet Spirit Thursday - prizes will be given to the students who display the most school spirit!

 

Class counting for dress up day participation and pictures will take place at 8:05 in the gym each day.

 

10/3:  Monday – WHS students attending Monday night’s volleyball game vs. Athens will get a chance to win prizes and a Subway sandwich for lunch! 

 

10/5 - Wednesday:  The Homecoming Parade will take place that night at 6:00 with the pep rally, coronation and powderpuff to follow. 

 

10/6 – Thursday: Student Council members will not be in class this half day because they will be decorating the gym for the dance. 

 

10:50 AM – Pep Rally - students will be dismissed to the football field

 

10/7 - Friday:  Homecoming Game -- GO BULLETS!  Kickoff is at 7:00, Homecoming court will be announced at half time.

 

10/8 - Saturday:  Homecoming Dance – Theme - A Night Out of this World!      The dance will begin at 7:30 and end at 11:00.  Announcement of court will be at 10:45.  Spectators will be allowed into the dance at that time.

 

Homecoming Ticket Sales:

  • Tickets will be sold at lunch Monday-Wednesday for $10 each.
  • After school on Thursday from Mrs. Walsh (room 216) for $10 each

·         Friday (no school) tickets can be purchased for $20 each

·         Saturday tickets will be $25 each at the dance

 

No tennis shoes or jeans will be allowed at the dance.  You will be asked to change or leave the dance.

 

Eastern Illinois University: Seniors who plan to attend EIU and have an ACT score of at least a 26 & GPA of 3.5 qualify for the Honors Program Scholarship. See Mrs. Damery to apply.

 

Healthcare Bound Students: Memorial Health System would like to offer students information on various career areas during their annual “Explorer Post”. Explore: pharmacy, medical imaging, emergency medicine, food and nutrition, sports medicine, and Heart/vascular services. See Mrs. Damery for the schedule & registration.

 

Volunteering: The Memorial Festival of Trees is looking for volunteer staff. The festival will be held Nov 19-27 in the Orr building on the fairgrounds. Visit: MemorialsFestivalofTrees.com for more information.

 

Scholarship Competition: The 20112 John F Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest is seeking applications. Students need to submit an essay on “an act of political courage” by January 7, 2012. For information and submissions go to: www.jfklibrary.org

 

Area Snowball: Students who wish to attend the Glenwood HS snowball can find registration forms in the library. Locate the pink folders or ask Mrs. Damery for help.

 

High School students (and their parents) who would like to learn more about University of Chicago are encouraged to attend University of Chicago: Yes You Can on Thursday October 6, 2011 at 7pm at Glenwood High School. If you plan to attend please email Mrs. Broderick at : nbroderick@chathamschools.org

 

Reminder to Juniors: If you have not turned in your field trip form by the day of the trip, October 5th, or you will not be allowed to go to the Capital Area Career Fair. No exceptions! This also applies to seniors who have signed up to attend.

 

The following students have not turned in a Computer Usage/Field Trip/Handbook form.  To continue using WHS computers or attend field trips, we must receive this form ASAP.  Extra copies are in the office you need a new on
