WHS Parent-Teacher Conferences – October 6th & 7th.  Appointments are being taken by calling the WHS Office, 566-3361.  When calling, please have the list handy of the teachers you would like to see.  Appointments will be made in ten minute increments on October 6th from 5:00-8:00 PM and on October 7th from 8:00-Noon, 1:00-4:00 PM.

WHS will coop with Riverton High School for boys' wrestling this year.  Anyone interested in participating needs to sign-up in the db20110921 office by Friday, September 23.


Scholarship Competition:  Seniors are invited to apply for the CBAI Foundation for the Community Banking Annual Scholarship Recipients are determined by an essay-writing contest. The first place winner will receive $1,000 (renewable for four years), additionally, up to 12 other applicants will receive a one time $1,000 scholarship. Essays are due Feb 6th. See Mrs. Damery for more information.


Prudential Spirit of the Community Awards: If you have made a difference through volunteering over the past year, you could win $1,000 and a fabulous trip to Washington D.C. next May. Minority High School Scholars Actuarial Academy: This program is (through the Actuarial Science Department at ISU) specifically designed for academically talented African-American, Hispanic, and Native American high school students who excel in mathematics, enjoy learning, and like to solve complicated problems.  Benefits of entering this program include Illinois State University room and board, field trips, scholarships, and career information for students selected for this program. Volunteering Opportunity: The YMCA is hosting a FALL FAMILY FESTIVAL on Friday October 14th. Volunteers are needed to work carnival games, sports contests, registration, treat stations, arts & crafts, and monitoring crowds. Volunteers can choose from two time slots:  5pm-7pm or 7pm-9pm.  The YMCA is also asking for donations of individually wrapped snack items to support this event. Congratulations to the FFA Horse team: Evan Weyant, Billy Womack, Kayle Gibson, and Brianna Parada. They placed 6th as a team with two individuals placing in the top 10. Evan Weyant was 6th place and Brianna Parada was 8th place.


The following students have not turned in a Computer Usage/Field Trip/Handbook form.  To continue using WHS computers or attend field trips, we must receive this form ASAP.  Extra copies are in the office you need a new one.
