Student Council Meeting: Tuesday, September 20  7:30 a.m.


Homecoming Jerseys, T-shirts, and Chamber shirt orders will be taken this week Tuesday through Friday.  Order forms will be in the office and outside Mrs. Walsh's room beginning Tuesday.  Jerseys are $22 each and T-shirts are $10 each.  No orders will be taken after Friday.


Scholastic Bowl sign-ups are this week - Monday through Friday - in the library. You will need to pick up team information when you sign up. Team meeting on Monday, September 26, and practice will start Thursday, September 29.

For anyone needing community service hours, the Sherman Elementary School PTO is hosting their annual Fall Festival on October 15 from 11-2, and they are looking for volunteers to oversee games, take ticket money, etc.  If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens.

WHS Parent-Teacher Conferences – October 6th & 7th.  Appointments are being taken by calling the WHS Office, 566-3361.  When calling, please have the list handy of the teachers you would like to see.  Appointments will be made in ten minute increments on October 6th from 5:00-8:00 PM and on October 7th from 8:00-Noon, 1:00-4:00 PM.


WHS will coop with Riverton High School for boys' wrestling this year.  Anyone interested in participating needs to sign-up in the db20110920 office by Friday, September 23.


Scholarship Competition:  Seniors are invited to apply for the CBAI Foundation for the Community Banking Annual Scholarship Recipients are determined by an essay-writing contest. The first place winner will receive $1,000 (renewable for four years), additionally, up to 12 other applicants will receive a one time $1,000 scholarship. Essays are due Feb 6th. See Mrs. Damery for more information.


Prudential Spirit of the Community Awards: If you have made a difference through volunteering over the past year, you could win $1,000 and a fabulous trip to Washington D.C. next May. Minority High School Scholars Actuarial Academy: This program is (through the Actuarial Science Department at ISU) specifically designed for academically talented African-American, Hispanic, and Native American high school students who excel in mathematics, enjoy learning, and like to solve complicated problems.  Benefits of entering this program include Illinois State University room and board, field trips, scholarships, and career information for students selected for this program. Volleyball News:  The JV volleyball team lost in 2 sets against Pleasant Plains.  The Varsity volleyball team won a thriller against Pleasant Plains in 2 sets last night! The Bullets are back in action against Carlinville on Thursday night.


The following students have not turned in a Computer Usage/Field Trip/Handbook form.  To continue using WHS computers or attend field trips, we must receive this form ASAP.  Extra copies are in the office you need a new one.
