Monday, May 9:


Lunch:  Swedish meatballs over noodles or Double-stuffed cheese pizza, buttered peas, diced pears, chocolate chip cookie, ½ pint of milk


All girls interested in playing volleyball next season, there will be a brief meeting on Monday, May 9th after school by Coach Carlson’s office to hand out summer information.  If you can not come due to other sport/activity conflict, please arrange with another athlete to pick up your information and to sign you up on the list.


All junior athletes need to meet with Mr. Furlow in the gym during the last 5 minutes of each lunch shift.

Senior Class Trip - Information about the Senior Class Trip is being passed out in your American Government class today.  It is a one-day trip to Chicago on Tuesday, May 24th.  We will spend the afternoon at Six Flags Great America, have dinner at Marcello's, and then enjoy a performance at The Second City, a comedy improv club in Chicago.  If you are interested in going, you need to return the bottom portion of the memo you receive today with your signature and a parent's signature along with the $50 to Mr. Martens no later than 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11th.  As all tickets will be booked after school on Wednesday, it will not be possible to extend the deadline or take materials, so be sure to have everything turned in on time!  All class dues must be paid and you cannot have been suspended during the school year in order to attend the Senior Class Trip.

Make plans now to attend a Cabaret Night on Friday, May 13th – 7:30 PM.  The WHS Vocal Jazz will be featured as well as the Best-of-Day Solo Ensemble groups.  The event will be held in the WHS Band Room/Cafeteria.  Come and enjoy an evening of great music along with a dessert buffet & coffee bar.  Tickets are being sold at $5 for adults and $3 for students and children.  If you would like to purchase tickets, please see a WHS Vocal Jazz student or contact Mrs. Bosworth at 566-3361.

Congratulations to the 2011 Prom Queen & King:  Lauren Hollinshead & Zach Martin


Congratulations to Jessica Miller, Cole Menzel, and Greg Harpring for placing at the IHSA State Journalism competition over the weekend.  Competing against schools from across the state, Jessica, Cole, and Greg earned 3rd place honors in their respective divisions.  Each division had 24 sectional finalists vying for the top spot.  Jessica and Cole placed in Yearbook Theme Development and Greg in Editorial Cartooning.  Congratulations to Jessica, Cole, and Greg.

Congratulations to the boys track team on their third place finish at the Sangamon County Varsity Track and Field Meet last Friday!


Seniors that would like to participate in Baccalaureate need to sign up in the office.  Baccalaureate will be held May 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM at WHS

High School Boys Basketball: All U of I Team Camp forms need to be turned in by May 11. Please turn in the Bullet Basketball Camp forms as soon as possible as well. Both forms should be turned into Coach Graven
