Congrats to the Varsity Scholastic Bowl team on its 4th place finish at the Masonic Sectionals.

 

Congrats to the WHS Jazz Band - Grand Champions of the 28th annual WIU Jazz Festival last Saturday at Macomb.  Not only did WHS win the 2A schools Division trophy, but was awarded the Small Schools Grand Champion trophy as well.  Congratulations to Kathryn Spenn, named Outstanding Jazz Musician of the Small Schools Division for the 2011 Jazz Festival!

 

Volunteers Needed: Looking for a way to help others and have fun? United Cerebral Palsy is looking for volunteers to help with three different fun-filled summers: recreational camp, life without limits camp, and computer camp. UCP is also looking for volunteers to help with "Saddle Up" a therapeutic horseback riding program for children with disabilities. Anyone with an interest in the medical field, education, or human services should volunteer. No experience with horses needed, training is provided. The next session begins in late March. Please stop by the guidance office for more details and an application.

 

Illinois College will be hosting a college fair on Tuesday, March 8th from 6:30-8:00pm for all students and their parents. The program is free and will feature several colleges and universities. More information is available in guidance.

Summer 2011 Pre-College Program at Pratt Institute: Students have the opportunity to explore college level courses in programs such as architecture, art, creative writing, graphic design, interior design, photography, and many more all while living in New York City. Interested students should see Mrs. Strack or Mrs. Chladny for an informational flyer.

 

The University of Missouri would like to invite interested students to attend the Mizzou Engineering Summer Camp. Students must be presently enrolled as a high school sophomore or junior and be in the upper 25% of their class. Enrollment is limited so please apply early. The cost is $425. Want a career in sports medicine? Find out more Saturday, March 19th from 8:30-4pm at the DMH (Decatur Memorial Hospital) Sports Enhancement Center. This is a hands-on course with highly trained staff to provide information on the career of sports medicine. The course costs $20. Deadline to register is March 14.
