Congratulations to Brock Kamrath – December Student of the Month!

 

JV & Varsity Volleyball Team:  please sign up in the office to officiate 6th grade volleyball games.  Games are at 5:00 PM and begin in January.  Please sign up and earn community service/leadership credit.

 

Any girl interested in HS Track should sign up in the office by Friday, January 14.

 

The Junior class will be hosting a Prom Dress Exchange on Saturday, January 29th from 10am – 2pm in the High School cafeteria.  Donations of gently worn prom dresses are needed.  Want to make some extra cash, sell your old dresses here as well.  Invite all of your out-of-town friends to come, shop and purchase their prom dress here!  For more information, contact Pam Kovacevich, 725-9170.

 

Twilight Bowling for Jr. High and High School students will be sponsored by the 2011 After Prom Committee on Sunday January 16th from to 11:30pm (no school on Monday) at King Pin.  $15.00 each person for unlimited bowling and shoe rental.  Any questions please contact, Sandy Leka 414-1985.

 

The Williamsville FFA Alumni Prime Rib dinner is scheduled for March 12th from 4-7 PM. Prime Rib Dinner tickets will be available by Friday. Each FFA member needs to pick up a minimum of 10 tickets to sell. Don't forget: $50 to the FFA member who sells the most tickets.

 

Before & After School Tutoring will start again on Tuesday, January 18th.

 

Attention Seniors:

Information is available in the guidance office on the Scottish Rite Scholarships. Applications can be accessed online at www.mastermason.com/assr-springfield.il
Deadline to apply is April 1, 2011. Over $65,000 will be awarded in scholarships.

 

Seniors planning to study Physical or Occupational Therapy should apply for the Illinois Elks Children's Care Corporation Scholarship Program. Students must have a B average or higher to apply. Deadline is March 18, 2011. Applications must be printed from iea-cc.info. Please come to guidance if you have questions.

 

2011 General Assembly Scholarship applications are available. Both undergraduate & graduate level works are acceptable. Scholarships cover one year of tuition to any state university located in Illinois. Students must show proof of acceptance. Please see Mrs. Chladny if you have questions.

 

For anyone needing community service hours, the United Cerebral Palsy organization is looking for volunteers to work their annual telethon at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield.  Students can volunteer to stuff envelopes.  Volunteers will work in two-hour shifts from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., 1:00-3:00 p.m., and 3:00-5:00 p.m.  If anyone is interested, please see Mr. Martens. 

 

Sherman Blood Drive – Saturday, January 29 at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

 

Boys’ Track Meeting - There will be a short, informational meeting for boys interested in WHS Track and Field on Tuesday, Jan. 18th in the cafeteria.  The meeting will take place immediately after school.

 

Attention high school students of all ages: Want a career in sports medicine? Find out more Saturday, March 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Decatur Memorial Hospital for an interactive hands-on clinic. The course costs $20 and includes breakfast and lunch. If interested or have questions please contact the DMH Sports Enhancement Center at 217-876-4975 or stop by the guidance office for a registration form. Deadline to sign up is March 14.

 

Sangamon County Department of Community Resources has made applications for the 2011 Scholarships for Low-Income College Entries (both graduating seniors and adults) available. Specific criteria must be met to apply. Financial need must meet guidelines set up by the scholarship. All applications must be received by May 6, 2011.

 

1st MidAmerica Credit Union is offering three $1,000 scholarships. Candidates must be a member of 1st MidAmerica with an account in good standing. Applications are available in the guidance office.  

 

Juniors - Basketball Concession Volunteers: Tuesday, January 18th - Audrey Snow, Kate Fowler, Abbey Stier, Samantha Moreland, Kayla Chamblin, and Ben Tobias. Please be there by 5:15 p.m.

 

Great job last night to the FFA Parliamentary Procedure team. The team placed 4th at the contest. Team members were: Adam Balder - Chairman, John Haggard - Secretary, and Floor members - Cassy Abeln, Jen-Luc Abeln, Logan Bangert, and Austin Burris. The contest consisted of running a mock meeting, making motions, and discussing the business at hand.
