Wednesday, January 5:

 

Lunch:  BBQ chicken sandwich or hot dog in bun, Sweet potato nuggets, cinnamon applesauce, whole grain animal cookies, ˝ pint of milk

 

Scholastic Bowl practices: Wed. -- 3:30-4:30 p.m.; Thurs. -- 3:45-4:45 p.m. Pick up a schedule for practices and play the next two weeks in the library.

 

FFA officers and members participating in the Parliamentary Procedure contest will practice every day this week after school until 4 PM.

 

FFA T-shirts and polos are available to each FFA member. Please pick them up between classes or after school.

 

Thursday, January 6:

 

Lunch:  Hamburger pony shoe with fries or baked potato bar, cottage cheese, soft pretzel, steamed broccoli, diced peaches, ˝ pint of milk

General Announcements:

 

JV & Varsity Volleyball Team:  please sign up in the office to officiate 6th grade volleyball games.  Games are at 5:00 PM and begin in January.  Please sign up and earn community service/leadership credit.

 

Any girl interested in HS Track should sign up in the office by Friday, January 14.

 

Reminder to Juniors: Friday, January 7th, 2011 is the deadline to sign up for ACT Review classes to be held this spring. You must complete the registration form and turn in the fee by January 7th to ensure a spot in the classes. Please see Mrs. Chladny if you have any questions or concerns.

 

The Junior class will be hosting a Prom Dress Exchange on Saturday, January 29th from 10am – 2pm in the High School cafeteria.  Donations of gently worn prom dresses are needed.  Want to make some extra cash, sell your old dresses here as well.  Invite all of your out-of-town friends to come, shop and purchase their prom dress here!  For more information, contact Pam Kovacevich, 725-9170.

 

Twilight Bowling for Jr. High and High School students will be sponsored by the 2011 After Prom Committee on Sunday January 16th from to 11:30pm (no school on Monday) at King Pin.  $15.00 each person for unlimited bowling and shoe rental.  Any questions please contact, Sandy Leka 414-1985.

 

The Williamsville FFA Alumni Prime Rib dinner is scheduled for March 12th from 4-7 PM. Prime Rib Dinner tickets will be available by Friday. Each FFA member needs to pick up a minimum of 10 tickets to sell. Don't forget: $50 to the FFA member who sells the most tickets.

 

The next Vocal Music Boosters meeting will be held Monday, January 10, 2011, at 6:30 in the high school teachers' work room. All vocal music students and parents are welcome!!!

 

SUMC Kids Place is looking for names to post on our parent bulletin board of people who would like to kid sit.  They will post your name, age, telephone number/and or email for all the parents to access.  Please contact Carmen Arnberger at Kids Place by emailing:  carmen@sumckidsplace.com, calling 496-2338 ext. 8, or stop in at 2336 East Andrew Road (Sherman United Methodist Church).

 

PLAN Test results were returned to sophomores during English class on Wednesday. If you did not receive your PLAN test score report or if you have questions regarding your PLAN results, please see Mrs. Chladny.

 

Helen & June Hamilton Teachers Scholarship Fund applications are available. This fund provides loans for the high school graduates ages 16-25. Loans can be forgiven if upon completion of college if the student becomes a full-time elementary or secondary school teacher. Deadline is April 1st.

 

William E. McElroy Foundation Scholarship Applications are available: This scholarship is open to male students, with preference given to any males who are premedical, medical and/or medical research. Deadline is April 1st.

 

Seniors - remember to continue checking the Guidance department webpage for scholarship updates.

 

Class of 2011 Graduation is set for May 29, 2011 at 5:00 PM at Sangamon Auditorium.  Seniors and parents will receive more details later in the semester.  If you have not yet ordered your cap and gown and plan to participate in the ceremony, please call Jostens at 217-483-8989.

 

Calling all Seniors who love science…Governor Quinn is looking for you!  2 students from Illinois will be chosen as Illinois delegates & receive a scholarship to attend the National Youth Science Camp in West Virginia from June 30-July 24, 2011.  Candidates must have shown exceptional achievement in math or science, leadership in school & community activities, and have a willingness to learn.  If interested, see the Guidance Office.
