Students:  The section where the band usually sits will be roped off as our student section for this Saturday's football playoff game.  Please come out and support the Bullets as they take on Maroa Forsyth in the IHSA Quarter Finals.

General Announcements:

 

Study Club will be available Tuesday & Thursday 3:20-4:00 PM in the Library and Wednesday morning 7:30-8:10 in the Library.  Resource support will be available on Tuesdays & Thursdays as well.

 

Care packages to our graduate soldiers overseas:  Show them you remember. Show them you have class in a friendly competition to remember our graduates who are now serving overseas.  Stop by the library and pick up the list of items that can be shipped in a care package to one of our graduates.

 

WHS Vocal Music Fundraiser: Members of the WHS Choirs will be selling Gourmet Delight cheesecakes again for this holiday season.  Orders & payment are due by Nov. 30.  Delivery will be Dec. 9.  Contact a choir student to place your order, or you may call Mrs. Bosworth at 566-3361.  Thank you for supporting our vocal music program!

 

Class Rings will be delivered on November 16th from 7:30 AM – 8:10 AM.  Payment is expected for ring pick-up.

 

Central Illinois Food Bank would like to thank Shannon Doyle, Leah Levin, Andrew Sapochak, and Sephra Urbas:   their artwork was used to increase awareness of hunger in our communities. The work was on display at the Harvest Ball 2010, and donated to sponsors of CIFB.

 

Congratulations to Shannon Doyle, Andrew Sapochak, Robert Konzelmann, Greg Harpring, and Lauren MordacqTheir artwork was selected for the 2010 High School Art Exhibition in the Access Gallery from November 5-18, 2010 hosted by the UIS Visual Arts Program.  This exhibition is a showcase of area High Schools artwork. Each school is limited to the entry of five works.  Exhibition opening and reception November 11, 6:00 pm - 8:00pm * Awards ceremony at 6:30 pm.

 

Barnes & Noble Fundraiser – November 21 - Sign your class poster at the greeter table while you shop and be entered for a chance to enjoy a pizza lunch with music & relaxation on the first day of finals.  Those attending the book fair from the class with the greatest number of signatures will be the lucky winners.

 

Seniors – If you forgot your graduation order yesterday, you can still drop off your order in the office.  Jostens will be back on the 16th and will pick up any redb20101110ing orders at that time.  Questions for Jostens can be directed to

 

Any senior who has applied or is planning to apply to Northern Illinois University please let Mrs. Chladny know for a possible $4,000 renewable scholarship nomination. If you would like to be considered for nomination, please submit an updated resume with all involvement and leadership in extracurricular activities, especially any community service. Apply in the guidance office by December 1.

U.S Bank Internet Scholarship Program: High school seniors planning to enroll next fall at an eligible four-year college or university participating in the U.S. Bank No Fee Education Loan Program are eligible to apply. Forty $1,000 scholarships awards. Recipients are selected through a random drawing process. Further details can be found at usbank.com/scholarship. Henry Bunn Memorial: Must demonstrate financial assistance beyond reasonable levels of parent and self-help. This is a one-time award. March 1, deadline.

Polly Roesch Vocal Music: This is a $1,500.00 award renewable for the entire 4 year college term. Please see Mrs. Bosworth for an application. March 1, deadline.

Skelton Scholarship: Any student in high school and a resident of Sangamon County may apply. This is also available to students already attending college. Qualifications are based principally on economic hardship, however academic achievement is also considered. March 1, deadline.

 

Davey Scholarship Foundation: Open to residents of Sangamon County, ages 16-25. Deadline to apply is June 15th, 2011. Please come to the guidance office for more information.

 

Plato & Flora S. McCourtney Foundation: For students planning to major in a technical or scientific field with a g.p.a of no less than 3.0. Applications, transcript & essay are due by March 31st. Last year, 38 area high school students received the scholarship out of 86 applicants.

 

Thomas H. Moore Illinois Electric Cooperatives Memorial Scholarship: Applicants must be a child of an electric cooperative member (receives service from), an employee, or director. Packets can be downloaded at www.menard.com. Deadline to apply is Jan. 1, 2011. Please stop by guidance for more details.

 

Attention Engineering Majors: The Capital Chapter of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers is again offering scholarships to high school seniors enrolling in an engineering program, have a minimum ACT score of 29 Math, 25 English, and a 3.0 g.p.a. The Alumni Scholarship for Southeast Missouri State Department of Physics & Engineering: Must plan to major in one of the Bachelor of Science programs & have a 24 ACT or higher.
