Choir Concert - 7pm at District Fine Arts Center (WJHS) -- Come enjoy good music and free cheesecake!  Madrigal tickets go on sale to the public for our December 11 Tea & Dinner.  Madrigal tickets sold in advance will be available for pick-up.

Y&G students: Please remember that dress code is business casual-- no jeans, no tennis shoes, and guys please wear a button-down shirt with a collar.  Pizza will be served at approximately 5:15 p.m. Please bring money so you can eat here and socialize with the other groups. Saturday, November 6:

 

IMEA Concert Festival at Western Illinois University -- Bus leaves at 6am from behind the JH.  Senior concert is at 4:30pm at Western Hall.  Admission is $3 for adults, and $2 for students.

 

Football Playoffs – WHS at Auburn – 1:30 PM – Go Bullets!

Scholastic Bowl Kick-off Varsity Tournament at PORTA - Bus leaves 7:15 AM

Care packages to our graduate soldiers overseas:  Show them you remember. Show them you have class in a friendly competition to remember our graduates who are now serving overseas.  Stop by the library and pick up the list of items that can be shipped in a care package to one of our graduates.

 

Parent-Teacher Conferences –  Appointments are being taken for:

November 10 – 5:00-8:00 PM or November 11 – 8:00 – 12:00, Break, 1:00-4:00 PM

The high school reserves 10 minute appointments for all teachers on both days of the conferences.  Call the high school office (566-3361) with specific names of teachers you’d like to meet with and a timeframe that is convenient with your schedule.

 

Schedule Changes - Mrs. Chladny will be taking appointments for 2nd semester schedule changes December 13th-15th.  Any student who would like to discuss changes for 2nd semester will need to schedule an appointment before or after school or during a resource period. Schedule change requests made after the 15th will not be honored. Please remember that 2nd semester changes are very limited.

 

WHS Vocal Music Fundraiser: Members of the WHS Choirs will be selling Gourmet Delight cheesecakes again for this holiday season.  Orders & payment are due by Nov. 30.  Delivery will be Dec. 9.  Contact a choir student to place your order, or you may call Mrs. Bosworth at 566-3361.  Thank you for supporting our vocal music program!

 

Attention Juniors & Seniors and your parents: A financial aid night presentation will be held on November 10th beginning at 6:30pm in the WHS cafeteria. Members from the Illinois Students Assistance Commission Core team will be presenting and available to answer questions. The presentation will offer information on general financial aid, scholarships, and preparing to complete the FAFSA.

 

All sophomores will be taking the PLAN test on Wednesday, November 10th from 8am-11:30am in the WHS cafeteria. The PLAN test covers the same subjects as the ACT and gives students an estimated ACT score. The PLAN test will help students identify academic strengths as well as areas for improvement. Students will complete a career interest inventory that can help find the best career choices that match those interests.

 

Vocal Music Boosters - Monday, November 8th at 6:30 pm in the high school teachers' workroom

 

The cross country awards night has been changed to Thursday, November 11th.  It will still be at 6:30 PM at Sams Too.

 

Sophomores – The Class of 2013 won Best Float for the 2010 Homecoming Parade.  There will be a pizza party provided by Sports Boosters on Wednesday, November 10th at Jacob Weiss’ house.

 

Seniors – Graduation orders for Jostens are due on Tuesday, November 9th during Lunch.  Payment in full or a minimum $60 deposit is required.  Extra order forms are available in the office.  Questions for Jostens can be directed to 217-483-8989.

 

Class Rings will be delivered on November 16th from 7:30 AM – 8:10 AM.  Payment is expected for ring pick-up.
